mini 14 durability

I don't know I have had three of them since they were introduced never kept any of them long enough to wear one out. Never had one long enough to put more than maybe a thousand rounds through and usually less. They are just so inaccurate that they get me PO'd and aI trade them of on somthing else.

I had one quite a while ago, after about 1500 rounds the lip broke off the extractor. I replaced it, an easy fix, kept if for another year or so, then got an ar 15. That was the only problem I had with it. Had a lot of experience with the m14 in the Army, never had any problems with it at all.

Nope, they just don't hold water to the AR platform for what Ruger wants for a new one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Durable, depends on what you'll be using it for... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Would I buy one if I had the money...Nope...

I have had 4. I like them but dont think you're doing any serious accurate shooting with one of the older ones. The new one Ruger just came out with seems a step better but $850?

I am not much of a black gun kinda guy (AR15's) but i built one once and put a ton of money in it. It shot fantastic, it would put 5 rounds at 100yds. in the size of my pinkie nail! But for the money I put in it it should have shot it self /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. On another note I owned (many years ago) a Mini-14 and sent it off to this place,

and these boys made it shoot amazing. I personally had never had any trouble with it. I ended up selling it for some reason that just escapes me at the moment but it was probably to fund another project. Good luck with your search!

I had a Bushmaster Varmint Stainless and sold it to buy the new Mini 14t and have to say I don't regret the decision one bit.I know allot of people don't like the Mini because it was inaccurate,It was never meant to be a target rifle,Ranchers bought them to carry around in their trucks and only cared about minute of Coyote and they were just fine for that purpose,I have had 2 Minis in the past both ranch rifles and they would do 2 inches on a good day with decent ammo. The Mini 14t is a different animal altogether,Mine shoots under an inch with 5 shots at 100 yards with no problems,And they are known to be more reliable than the ARs to boot.I will buy another AR in the future.(As soon as money allows)But I will not be getting rid of this Mini anytime soon.

thanks guys, i was asking because a gun shop has one for $295 and its older, the guy on the phone said it was a "truck gun" so i just wondered if that was fair for a gun treated roughly and not that new. thanks!
