mini amp and megaphone for homemade?

Considering building my own e-caller had thought about going the route shown with the mini amp then saw someone using the bullhorn/pa setup now thinking about kinda blending the two together if needed. Thinking of using an MP3 player to the mini amp then running a fairly long /large speaker wire out to the bull horn. Yeah a long wire = a rats nest but can't afford a wireless remote. Any thoughts? would the mini amp be needed for a long run of wire or just a waste of money?

I made mine with a mini amp,The volume is great.But i don't have alot of cord on it .My fater inlaw lives in Lush meadows.Are you in Town
 
I live between town and bootjack you've overlooked my house a couple times on your way to Lushmeadows. I grew up here if your in laws have lived here for a while I probably know them or at least recognize em. If they have been towed in the last 2 years It may have been me towing em. It's been about 18 years since I've doen any calling and even then I never had any luck but would like to get back into it and see what happens.
