Minox Scope ??

Anyone have experience with the ZA3, BDC reticle? I've been reading these are made with Schott glass like the Zeiss are. So what's the deal with the reticle? is it similar to the rapid-z reticle zeiss has that is easily calculated for particular caliber rifles? Any info would help. these are going for $250 on sample list so i'm thinking about selling my 3x9 vortex viper and trying one of these out.

I bought one of the Minox scopes to give it a try on a ground hog rifle. The one I bought had their ballistic reticle. The reticle is basically the same as the Burris reticle. It could come in handy, but is not nearly as nice as the Leupold B&C or VH. I have not used a Zeiss reticle to compare it against. All my Zeiss scopes have a duplex or Mil-Dot.

When I took the scope out of the box the rubber O-Ring on the ocular lense fell off the scope, and I grabbed it in my hand before it hit the floor. I was very disappointed in that. I put the rubber ring back on, it clipped on, but not very tighly. It fell off twice more.

I mounted the Minox and went to the range with it. I was very dis-satisfied with the glass in the scope. I could not get the scope to focus properly at 100 yards on target.

So I came home and called the fellow I bought the scope from. He gave me the name of a fellow at Minox. I called him and he was very polite and cordial. He told me to return the scope and he would replace it with a new one immediately. And he did just that, and in a timely manner.

When I received the scope I did not even take it out of the box. I sold it immediately. I am not a second chance kind of guy with optics. Tom.

That's too bad. I really hoped these were going to be a decent scope, but at the price point I had my doubts. Been seeing more and more reviews similar to this one. Hopefully they straighten it out in the next year or two.
