MISSION:50gr Bergers out of a 1:12 twist .204

The subject sums it up. I'm going to try to get the 50gr Bergers to stabilize out of my rifle. I'll be using stout loads of Varget and BL-C(2). I'm going with these two powders because of the good velocities and pressures. It might not work but it also could, and i've had the bullets sitting on the bench for a few years now. I figured i might as well try.

Never gonna do it, I hade a 10 twist shilen barrel and the 40 was the heaviest I got to stabalize. Maybe you can do something no one else has gotten to happen. Each barrel does shoot different.

I can stabalize the 45gr Hornady Spire points just fine. I shot some loads that were backed with Varget last night and my start loads were all over the place and of course keyholes. My heaviers loads started to settle down and group but they were still keyholing. They were starting to not hit completely sideways but i'm not going to be able to get enough velocity to get them to stabalize. I have one more load to load up and try, but i'm thinking it's not going to happen. Thought I'd give it a shot though.

Your best bet would be to trade for something lighter that your gun will shoot and let someone with a fast twist shoot those heavies.

Yeah I know, I just decided to see if I could. My pet load is with 40gr. Noslers. My rifle shoots those great.

22-250 or swift if you want to go that heavy. Good luck trying, BL-C(2) seems to be very temp sensitive in my experience, be careful.

I have a 10 twist Shilen barrel that shoots the 50's great and a 12 twist that won't shoot the 40 Vmax. I'm waiting on a 9 twist Pacnor for a 20br to shoot the 50's and 55's.

Nothing wrong with the 50's Higher bc and good velocity.

It turned out the way I thought it would... failure. I'm looking at Shilen barrels now though
