bvr Just got been from hunting,no luck as wind is really cranking. The section I hunted yesterday is farmed from road to road with a feedlot on the west side. This guy calves his cattle in Feb. so the coyotes start moving in from the bottoms around this time. Also there are feedlots on the next section north and the next section east. This is pretty hilly land with very little timber. One can drive on top of a hill and glass a lot of land. The weather pretty much determines where they bed. These yotes seem to prefer laying in the open as they can see around them quite a ways. They will usually be laying in the sunshine out of the wind.I drive around glassing from the high spots until I see them and just watch where they go as I know this ground like the back of my hand.If it's an area that I can't get within range by stalking,I'll try to get as close as I can then call.Doesn't seem to matter to them if I'm around brush or not,if they hear they come. Our yotes usually start pairing up the first of Feb and one can generally see or call multiples during this time,so if you call and shoot one Keep Calling. Many times this time of the year,I've called in singles and pairs, have shot them, started calling again, and ended up getting another.Hope this helps ya.
