until someone see's you,you better call conservation and verify before hunting from a motorized vehicle on private land. i dont remember seeing in the code anywhere that there are any acceptions to this rule. i could be wrong but dont think so,wildlife belongs to the state and not the land owner.

400+ Killed a yote yesterday.Saw a pair at 1/2 mile and got within 400 or 500 yards annd try to call them but wind was too strong.Ended up stalking within 150 yards after they bedded down and got the female and missed the male at 250.Have been seeing quite a few tracks but seems like they're always moving due to breeding season.Oh called a bobcat up on Wed.,don't it figuire as season is over. lol

I talked to the game warden about this. It means what it means. No shooting out of a motorized vehicle, period unless you hold a handicapped permit and that is only valid from private land in a vehicle thats turned off or from one of the pullover spots on public ground with the vehicle turned off.

Coyote hunting has been great in Morgan, Miller and Moniteau this year, for me anyway. Been successful on a very high percentage of stands. Had some hound hunters move in, ticked me off, but still callin em in that area.

what type of terain did the coyotes bed down in up in the hills or creek bottoms? were they facing where they could see long distance? i've been trying to study & learn more about coyotes & any info would be greatly appreciate you said you thought they were starting to pair & mate when did you first start seeing that happen & how long before they set up there home range to raise pups?the coyotes are fairly scarce around here in 87 they had a major die off from mange & just really never have recovered i have killed & seen more this year & last year than i had for a long time most have been clean but i killed a couple with the F------- mange bad stuff my hunting partner killed 3 or 4 with mange i'm hoppin this weather will clean it up. please let me know what you can.

If you are just sitting on the ATV and it is not moving, you can shoot from it. In fact they make blinds to put around your ATV just for that purpose. It is the same as shooting from a boat. As long as the motor is off and forward progress has ceased, it is legal.

bvr Just got been from hunting,no luck as wind is really cranking. The section I hunted yesterday is farmed from road to road with a feedlot on the west side. This guy calves his cattle in Feb. so the coyotes start moving in from the bottoms around this time. Also there are feedlots on the next section north and the next section east. This is pretty hilly land with very little timber. One can drive on top of a hill and glass a lot of land. The weather pretty much determines where they bed. These yotes seem to prefer laying in the open as they can see around them quite a ways. They will usually be laying in the sunshine out of the wind.I drive around glassing from the high spots until I see them and just watch where they go as I know this ground like the back of my hand.If it's an area that I can't get within range by stalking,I'll try to get as close as I can then call.Doesn't seem to matter to them if I'm around brush or not,if they hear they come. Our yotes usually start pairing up the first of Feb and one can generally see or call multiples during this time,so if you call and shoot one Keep Calling. Many times this time of the year,I've called in singles and pairs, have shot them, started calling again, and ended up getting another.Hope this helps ya.

Sounds just about like what I get into here, have'nt been able to get out and call as much as I'd like.. I see a few out runnin on my way to and from work < I hate that > Just came in from the garage and heard 2 different group's howling, never get to see these because of the heavy cover. I guess I should try setting up in the timber and call, only did that one time after a cat, oh well maybe soon I get some free time and give it a shot! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
