mock scrape

u think its about time for a mock scrape?

can i use dominant buck lure for that, then spray a lil natural doe urine around that general area?

It's hard to say for your area, but usually when I start seeing good scrape's being used a pretty good bit is when ill make afew. This is a prime time because bucks are checking alot and they know does are using them also so another buck in the area will peak their intrest a good bit. When you make one scent control can make or break your scrape. I always wear rubber boots and try not to touch anything with your bare hands even the bottle the deer pee is in. It's really best to find a rub/scrape line and hunt that, but it never hurts to make afew. Go ahead and make afew around the area because most the time only about 1 out of 5 or 6 will become active if any.

cool as always thanks zack!

versus.com has a rut map and where ist affecting and id say its perty close to here! rut kicks off around nov 1st depending on heat!

i think since its later in october i will just go ahead and make a new one! do i use dominant buck lure? what lure do you use when you do the limbs on the tree where he rubs his face?
then i will spray natural doe urine around that general area!

p.s. good luck with the move

Thanks Lonnie...

If you can mist alittle bit of the buck urine on the licking branch. Now or pre-rut in your area im assuming is the time to use them. Deer dont use scrapes really at all during the actual rut. Big bucks cant really be pin pointed in the rut because they are chasing anywhere a hot doe is. If you know where an existing scrape is that your not hunting chances are it has a licking branch...you can cut that licking branch down an fix it to your mock scrape area and you have a better chance of deer using it.

Bucks don't always check the scrapes during daylight. Primary scrapes differ from boundary and secondary scrapes. They rub their orbital gland on the over hanging limbs/ branches. A dripper will allow your choice of lure to drip during daylight hours, this will make a buck change his pattern to checking that scrape during those times. Don't forget bucks will scent check a scrape down wind 20 yards or so to see if it's been touched. Don't put all your eggs into one scrape basket by hanging a stand over a fresh scape and hunting it religiously. Trail timers and cameras will play a big part in your decision making.

anyone ever had any luck pissing in one? ive heard guys have had success with it and some whom havent!

i dont see how this could work?

I'm gonna hose down one of them thar mock scrapes with my willie and see what happens. they say when urine breaks down it all smells the same........like ammonia.....shore is cheap too......just drink two bottles of water and 30 minutes later rake the leaves back under a lickin' branch and drain that lizard........as far as buck urine on a lickin' branch, I never could get my leg hiked up that high.....just sayin;
