Model 700 Rem Action

Guys please help,

Where or how do you buy a action in the USA?

I am planning a 6mm Rem AI but I need a Mod 700 Rem Action 1st.

What do you suggest I do.

Remember I am in South Africa and can not buy another rifle just for the action.

Not being real smart on SA law, why can't you buy another whole rifle? Here the action requires all the same paperwork and background checks as the whole rifle. Price wise it is about the same here to buy a good used gun as it is to get just the action.
 
Brownell's sells Remington actions. jagrdawger actually has a good idea about buying a whole rifle. If your building a rifle you can buy a used Rem 700 for about the same price or less than a new action. You can always sell the leftover parts to recoup some of your investment.

Your gunsmith is going to put a new barrel on it and blue it so bluing the action along with the barrel is no big cost savings over using a new action. Most folks that build a custom 700 blueprint the action anyway.

I have been waiting for a permit for the last 18 months...

So to buy a new rifle will not be worth it. I want to build a custom rifle.

Laws are very strict on out porting firearms and actions in the USA . Here is a list of most custom action builder . Contact them and maybe they can help you because I'm sure they will know the exact laws on import and out port of firearms material.
