model1 sales

I know a few guys on here have built an AR from these guys, but I was wondering if anyone has built one of there .204. I want to build one but it looks like a 10 pound upper which is not what I want. I like the kit idea as to buying piece by piece but might have no choice. Cabelas has a cmmg upper in a light model that goes for 6 pound which is closer to where i want to be but it would cost and they don't sell the other parts to finish the build

Thanks

I have one in 204. It's a little heavy but I don't have any trouble hauling it around. It shoots very well with the lighter bullets. It dosn't like 40 grn. at all.

I built with a 24 inch dpms barrel. Put 1.25 lbs of lead in the buttstock for balance. Topped it off with a 6.5-20X50 burris with a sun shade. Ended up somewhere around 13 lbs. Nice from the bench, little heavy for carrying in the field. Also prefers lighter bullets, nothing over 35 grains.

Does anyone have any comlaints with model 1? I'm looking into one of their kits also but haven't heard weather they are any good or not

Bought my hunting AR upper from them...16in extra heavy bull barrell free float handguard...I was in Iraq at the time and had set a limit on my card (in case it got stolen) and had forgotten that I had done so. They sent me an email saying that the card had been declined for the amount of the purchase and that's when I remembered! Embarassed, I emailed them back and asked them if they could charge my card over a three day period to not exceed the limit and they did! Any company that works with you like that I like...they also sent me an email when it was all complete and thanked me for my service.

I got my very first kit gun (minus lower) from them, it was a 20" Hbar. It was the best shooting (kit gun) I have ever owned. I wish now I would have kept it. But the price AR's were going for after Obama got elected was just to good. I almost doubled my money on it...

Anyone know what company they use for their barrels? I'm starting to think about their SPR in a 6.5........lol too much time thinking about it I keep changing directions for my build.

They are located about 15 min from my house. I have talked to them serversl times and they are helpful and knowledgable. I'm wanting to do the same thing as you (.204) and I want to use something like an Hbar size barrel instead of a really heavy bull barrel.

I have never bought anything from Model 1 other than parts, scope mounts, etc. so I can't help you too much as far as accuracy or quality claims. Their stuff looks good and they manage to stay in business.

Still are, but they're stamped "Model1".

I purchased a Model 1 upper, new, at a gun show. It shot well,
with hand loads. I had it bore scoped, and the smith told me
it was the roughest barrel he had ever seen. What surprised
him the most was there was no copper in the tooling marks.
He told me whatever I was doing to remove copper fouling
was working well.

I too sold mine in the Obama election panic, and made a few
bucks.

I am getting half inch or better 5 round groups with factory hornady ammo with mine. It's also in .223. It is a bit on the heavy side, especially since I added a magpul PRS stock to it but it doesn't take long to get used to the weight. I would definately buy another one from them.

i noticed on there 20 inch varmint rifle kit they say it can be shipped directly to you.all kits complete less stripped lower reciever?so it has lower with it but no internal parts so you have to install parts?is this right?

Not exactly, it does NOT contain the stripped lower. You have to purchase this item seperately: http://newfrontierarmory.com/catalog/ind...9ac5c325776799c

or a stripped lower of your choice, the above is just an example. The stripped lower, is the ATF "controlled" piece and must be shipped to a FFL for ultimate transfer to you just like any other weapon. It does contain all of the "internal" parts to fully assemble the stripped lower.

Then place your order with model1sales for one of their kits like you outline above. About 5-10 days later, they will ship you the fully assembled upper and a lower parts kit. When you get it you will need to assemble the parts kit into your previously acquired stripped lower.

Here is a tutorial: http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/

About an hour later if you take your time, your at the range firing away...
