Mojo critter or Ghillie suit?

id buy a ghillie coat, and a quiver critter! lol 2 birds one stone. ha you can tell im married and i do negotiating with toys.

Get the decoy.... In my opinion, ghillie's are way over rated. I've had just as much luck with a pair of carhart brown coveralls and just sitting still.

Something moving that will capture the attention of the animal will distract it from you a little...

You can fabricate your own decoy using some fishing line and a child's coonskin cap from Cracker Barrel ($5) or some Chicken/Turkey feathers (usually free) and hanging them over a nearby tree branch...and bobbing them by twitching the line...

The Ghillie will break up the human form and allow you to look like a pile of leaves or dead grass...and if you have to sit out in the open,,, it's worth it's weight..

I like both I bought my suit first, I use my decoy twice as much than the suit. So I would go for the decoy first keeps the attention off of you.

Ghillie AND a dowel a couple feet ling with a feather tied onto like old turtle said. Cabelas also sells these feather sticks for 8 bucks but theres has a colapsible stick.

I would buy the ghillie without a doubt. I Have been using decoy for two years and I think it has helped me maybe two times. I use it every stand too. The ghillie on the other hand allows you to make set ups that without it, you might not be able to make. I think decoys are over rated.

Another vote for the decoy.
If you get the ghillie that has long yarns on it, it is just a snag magnet for every twig and piece of brush out there. A friend has one and his rifle snags on it, scope caps, it's a hassle. If you get the suit that is laser cut leaves it would be better.
I agree that some motion out in front of you would be better than sitting under a rag. No offense to those who use one though.

I never use a decoy and I almost never hunt WITHOUT my ghillie.

By the time a coyote sees a decoy on my stand he is dead, or dying. I use the ghillie in all types of terrain and even in the snow.

Mine has no burlap or jute so does not collect a bunch of bush trash. It is lightweight and user friendly. I put them on my clients. By the time they leave they are sold on them.

Rancho Safari is one of our sponsors. and Gerry id a great guy to deal with. These ghillies are made in the U.S. . The color i have is perfect for everything from snow to timber.

I use it on the bald overgrazed prairie where the grass is nearly non existent. I've had coyotes literally within arms length.
It completely disguises the human form. It doen't make you invisible , it tells the coyote brain, there's nothing to see here , move along.

I've used them in archery season then into migratory bird season and deer season and of course calling coyotes.
I use to use coffin blinds , final approach etc. Now I use only the ghillie. Sit in my bird decoys and kill birds.

They last for years and when you see how they work, you won't leave home without one.

I took mine to Africa and I take it to the PM hunt every year.

If it sounds like a hard sell I can only tell you this will be the best money you spend on calling after your calls.

I got lucky last year at the PM banquet and got a Rancho Safari Ghillie as a door prize....IMHO, it's one of the better prizes I've ever received...Fits great and blends into most areas around here...

I can sit in the middle of a field and look like a pile of dead leaves or a dead bush, or stand/sit next to a tree trunk and be just 'brush'...

Sorry, not possible. For breaking up your outline...MAYBE. As a ghillie that actually conceals your location...Hardly.

If you're not adding natural veg from your surrounding location...its not a ghillie. It's a leafy camo knock off.

The only real ghillie suits that are truely effective, are MADE, not bought.
No suit can effectively conceal a person across a wide range without natural materials. You can get close...and perhaps close enough, but if you want a ghillie suit to truly work, you need to be able to conceal yourself from a human, not just an animal.

DO THAT and you've got an effective ghillie. Otherwise, you've got an overly priced, glorified ground blind.

Why in the world would any of us want to hide our selves from a human,,, This ISNT Iraq , this is Coyote ,whitetail, etc hunting.

The main purpose of any type of camo is to break up the human outline.

Redfrog... that looks like a nice suit... it also looks light weight... I would think the question of this post should have also included what kind of terrian he hunts... as i can see that redfrog has less cover for hiding...and has plenty of wide open shots... so if you have plenty of cover... then maybe the decoy would help him more than added concealment on top of his already plenty of concealment.

Less cover = ghillie ..... More cover = decoy

I think everyone is right in their locations.
