My son and I spent the first four days of the moose season covering alot of ground but only seeing cows and calves. Here's a cow that let us get to within about 20 yards. After she still wouldn't leave, we did because we decided she had us by about 600 pounds if she decided to charge.
On day 6, my son had to study his college Spanish homework so I decided to try a meadow that we had seen several cows a couple days before. I got into a position where I could see both meadows and also could observe/hear the trail behind me. After about 15 minutes I noticed a moose walking out of the trees along the edge of the meadow. After determining that it was a legal bull, I put 2 rounds from my .300 Win Mag into him at about 250 yards.
His rack measured 50", with 3 brow tines. After cutting the legs at the knees, each hind quarter weighed 105 pounds. The back straps were 42" long each.
