mossberg 500 wont eject shell

I have a Mossberg 500 12 ga. Will not throw the shell out. Everything else works fine. Any ideas on what the issue is?

First thing to check is the extractor screw. If it is loos,or missing, there's the issue. Make sure the ejector is too worn, has good spring back, etc. Also make certain there are no burrs or something on the extractor 'claw'.

Since it is grabbing the shell from the chamber, I am leaning towards ejector. Pull the bolt assembly out and clean it with carb cleaner or "Shotgun Blaster". IT may be all gooped up and not letting the ejector function with enough force.

MidwayUSA carries a large assortment of small Mossberg parts. They will be easier to deal with than Mossberg's CS, IME...

Once again, nothing to add, just a display of your dislike of Remington Arms. We get it...you don't like them. Get over yourself, help the OP with the actual issue, or just don't type anything.

I use to have a tactical turkey 500 that wouldn't throw the 3 inch shells sometimes. I sold it and got a browning bps. problem solved. much more happy now

What shells you shootin. Ive seen alot of people having trouble with heavy shot not ejecting. Rim is a odd size. Seen it in benelis mainly so far.

The Browning badge itself is not a cure all. I love me some BPS, do not get me wrong. But I have a BPS at my smiths as I type this for the exact same reason. Stuff happens and it happens to every manufacturer, even Browning.

Yep,,,,, just the usual childish wise cracks with nothing helpful to add.

Tiresome indeed.

Does it have the ejection problem with all brands of shells or just one particular brand? Is it extracting the spent round and not ejecting it?

The humorous part of it all is that his sum-total knowledge is based mostly on what he reads from others (note lack of real experience), and to a much lesser extent, on one rife which he bought (used IIRC) expecting and hoping for it being a disaster. When it didn't meet his expectations he crowed for months.

Many of the biggest complainers and critics on the internet couldn't change a light bulb let alone get a rifle to shoot well.

To stay on topic, it sounds like an ejector problem that should be easily solved. Get a smith to look at the shotgun if you don't feel comfortable working on it yourself.

Wasn't talking about you but if the shoe fits (which you seem to think it does) then wear it.

OP,,,, good luck with your shotgun woes.
Hunting season's no time to have a break down.

Looking back, can't recall ever making a childish wise crack. If the shoe don't fit, you can't convict, you must acquit, you must eat ice cream, or something like that.

Don't know what I was thinking.

Can you post a picture of the action? How about when it malfunctions? Just so we're on the same page the shell is removed from the chamber but stays in the action, correct?

Yes sir, everything operates as it should, loads, shoots, etc. just won't eject. I have to physically pull the shell out. I'll post pics tomorrow. Gun is in my hunting rig. I've tried cleaning it and all that.
