Mossberg 640KD Chuckster

I have a Mossberg 640KD Chuckster .22 mag. I'm wanting to get a new trigger for it because the one in it is way to stiff for me. Anyone know where I can get one, or am I stuck?

I know I'm gonna get a few comments saying a .22 mag is unethical to use for coyotes, but here it goes anyway. I'm most likely not gonna have a shot over 100 yards, so what ammo recommendations do you guys have for me? I'm thinking 40gr. Winchester JHP.

The .22 mag with the Winchester ammo I stated above has more energy at 100 yards than a Winchester 34gr. hollow point .204 at 500 yards.

I'm sure these questions have been asked a million times

I have one, and it has a stiff trigger also. If you cant get over that then take it to a smith and see if he can smooth it up a bit. I am not aware of any after market triggers for these rifles. For ammo I use 40 and 50gr solids for yotes. The heavier HP does'nt expand much because of the lower velocity [1800fps], but work ok. Now the V-Max's are nasty on smaller stuff, but hit and miss on bigger dogs for kill power. These rifles are simple yet reliable, and accurate. I reach for mine often in short range situations. Enjoy.

Do you mean fmj's?

haha, sorry for the confusion. I read the same thing to.
I heard of a guy using the EZ trigger pull assist on his trigger guard and it helped alot!! He said it took up too much room and you couldnt fit a your finger in the guard if you had a glove on. I might try it and see how it works. I have read that the trigger pull is #8lbs and I'd be happy to see #4-5lbs. Like I said, I'm only shooting 100-125yds max, so the trigger isnt gonna kill my groups at 100yds.

Thanks

I used to use the Winchester 40g jhps out of a six inch barreled single six and they would expand. I am sure they would be great in a rifle.

I am confused. So there IS two guys with the same name? Two EasternPredHunters? One has a Marlin and one don't? Weird.

I have a mossberg chuckster. it shoots the cci 40gr and the winchester 40gr equally well. Trigger is fine on mine. It is the rifle i can use durring deer/elk seasons when i do not have a tag.

It is illegal in oregon to hunt with a centerfire rifle, if you do not have a deer/elk tag when season is open. So i pack the 22mag for coyote. Or i pack the shotgun for bear/cougar

I have the EZ-Pull trigger assist on two of my guns, a 22 and a 12 ga slug gun due to the triggers on both aren't adjustable. The trigger assembles are stamped, the EZ-pull works well for what i use the guns for but also i tried a wider trigger shoe which also worked as well and didn't have the weird or bulky feel. I can't remember who i ordered them from but will look to see if i can find the paper work. Just another option.

I have the 640KS Chuckster. It will shoot the Remington 40 gr HP 1/4" @ 50 yards. The CCI will shoot 1/2". Those were the two best loads and it is interesting as they share the identical bullet as far as i can tell. The way it groups is predictable. It takes 5 shots to season the bore when its clean. Then it will shoot a 1/4" group for 5 rounds. The trigger breaks crisp at 4lbs and I think it may have been worked on as my dad got this second hand in the 60's or early 70's. Main problem is the scope mounting. You have to use offset rings to get most scopes close enough to your eye. Killed my first dog with it. A 25 yard boiler shot instant death.
