Hi guys. Just inquiring about this rifle. Anyone own one or has owned one? How much plastic is on this rifle? How is the accuracy out of the box? Thanks in advance!

Mike

I'm never very far away. But in all honesty you will be a lot happier with a Savage or any other brand for that matter. I'm not a fan of the Mossberg rifles at all. Others may like them but I don't care for them. When I worked at the gun shop, we sold a few and a few came back for repairs. But, its your money, give it a shot! But to answer your question, the ones we had were in chassis stocks or wood. Not much plastic on either. Two guys bought two rifles, one guy said his shot pretty good, the other went in for repairs. Best I can do to honestly answer your questions.

Hey thanks for the reply. That's good to know. I didn't know you worked at a gun shop so I'm sure you've seen it first hand. I don't know too much about the Mossberg rifles. I own a 12 gauge Mossberg but never any of their rifles. The only thing that sparked my interest is the price. For a 5.56 bolt gun on that price range it's pretty reasonable. And to be honest I sort of like the scout rifle look for some reason.

I think you would be better off buying a Ruger Mini 14...

I would shy away from the mossberg also and if you like the looks of a scout i would look at the Ruger...

I don't like the way they integrated the trigger guard and the grip all into one piece. To be honest it prolly has the same barrel and bolt carrier most of the other brands do.

I can't speak for the 5.56, but I have two 7.62's and sold one I had previously and all were shooters. The one I sold was a 7.62 Predator with the laminated stock and It would shoot 5 shot group at .700". I have the 7.62 LR and a 7.62 Scout and they can shoot even tighter groups with 168 gr. Sierra HPBT's. There are some Mossberg haters here so beware. Do your own homework and you'll see they are a great value. I can hit a 24" steel gong at 1000yds with regularity, not bad for a $500 factory rifle with a $400 scope. My goal was to shoot 1000 yards for less than $1000 and I've done it with all three MVP's.

Not real sure what Dustin's talking about. Bolt carrier group? Huh?

Thanks for the info man! All the research I've done I'm finding the accuracy to be good with these rifles.
