Mossberg Patriot

A friend just bought one in .270 Win. 2 weeks ago. Different caliber, I know, but I'll let you know how it works out for him.

I have one in 243. It’s the cerakoted version. I love it actually. Feels cheap like the axis and American but it shoots great. Nothing I can think of to complain about.

I helped a friend work up a load for his, and his 308 shot really great. I never got the impression that it was cheap like the Ruger American or Axis, I think that it is a step up in fact.

I agree totally.

Several weeks ago I was visiting a friend in the Liberty Hill, TX area and we went to a local gun shop near his house. They had two wood stocked guns, a 270 and a 308, on a rack and both caught my eye and made me wonder what they were. They were Mossberg Patriots.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice they both looked. Stocks with good wood and finish and well finished metal. I have no idea how they might shoot, but they definitely are a notch or more above the Savage and Ruger entry level throw-away rifles in terms of appearance.

Just my opinion, of course, and nothing more.

Winny, I took that 308 Patriot apart, adjusted the trigger. It would make for a good cheap little rifle to make into a beater truck gun. I got the trigger down very nice.

Brother and I threw together some basic 308 loads with PMC brass, R#15, WLR primer, 150g Sierra btsp and groups were 5/8"-3/4" real quick(3 Shot groups)...plenty good enough for 200 yd deer shooting for our friend.

I know a guy that bought one in .270, it looked better than a comparable Ruger or Savage.
It is the only gun I've ever known him to hit a coyote with.
