Mossberg Tactical Turkey ??

Well, it seems that my dream of a Stoeger semi auto has gone down the tubes, but I found a Mossberg Tactical Turkey locally, seems perfect for a coyote shotgun, other than not being a semi auto ! Anyone have any experience with them yet ?

Have you looked on gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com? You can prolly get one close to the same price you were quoted before after shipping and an FFL fee.

I've had good luck on the gun auctions. Made some good deals and had an occasional rifle that was a bit disappointing but generally I've done well. I field tested a Stoeger semi-auto. It was OK, I guess, but not anything to jump and down over... certainly no a whit better than a Mossberg. We got into an extremely heavy day of pheasant shooting last year and I lost the cocking arm off the Stoeger. $27 to get it replaced but the gun overall was pleaant to shoot and the trigger was certainly better than the Benelli Nova.

you mean like this one?

I got it and love it. The recoil is not to bad, but the first thing I did was add a limbsavers recoil pad to the stock.

The adjustable stock is very nice, but I am looking for some padding to put on the pistol grip. I found that most of the recoil is felt there.

Good tight groups and seemed good with hevi shot dead coyote out to about 65 yards. I was able to pattern all the pellets in about 20-24 inches with the 3" shells. That was with the factory choke tube.

That's what I'm talking about ! Here in Utah, no one in Northern Utah even seems to know what the Tactical Turkey is, Cabelas in Lehi stocks them and they are $429.00, I would really prefer a semi auto, but I can't justify $800.00 for a new one, no real reason for them to be so expensive ! I just saw the standard model 835 Mossberg camo Turkey gun, 3 1/2" camo'd at Wally World for $298.00 ! Hard choice to make here !

That 835 has a reputation of being a nasty kicker! It's a good enough gun, but for many it seems to kick the snot out of them. I imagine that has something to do with a lightweight non-gas gun shooting the heavy magnum 3 1/2" loads. The good old M500 camo turkey gun is maybe a "best buy" on the market. My dad has killed a slew of game with one over the years. Including coyotes, fox, and bobcats I've called to the gun. When speaking of pump guns I've always been a Remington 870 kinda guy, but the Mossberg, Browning, and Ithaca are solid guns too.

Cabelas sells them, also look on E-Bay, lots of tactical stocks on there for cheap !

P.S. The Tactical Turkey only has a 20" barrel, the standard 835 Turkey is a 24" barrel !!

I use an 835 and love it. I bought it at wally world for around 300 bucks. It now has a pistol grip buttstock that i had originally purchased for my 870 that I use at work. It doesn't kick too bad. The buttstock was like 35 dollars through GALLS which is an LE distributer but I imagine it could be had 4 the same $$$$ elsewhere. Only drawback I see is that the stock is black and the rest of the gun is camo. other than being ugly it works just fine. It also seems that it has reduced the felt recoil, I guess because you have a much more solid hold on the gun and its pushing back into your hand and shoulder rather than just your shoulder.

my tactical is a rem 870 with a smooth bore slug barrel 26" long it works great for yotes up close in my opinion rem. makes the best pump gun........
