for a 50 cal muzzle loader?? Just curious what's been working and what to shy away from. I usually shoot 250 grain T/C Shockwaves but got a new to me Austin & Halleck inline and thought for grins I might try something different.
If you are looking for the "most accurate" Bullets, then I would give the PR Precision muzzleloader Bullets a try. Be careful if you plan to use them for hunting, because they are 44 cal and many states have minimum caliber restrictions that make them too small to legally hunt with
I’ve used in my TC omega the original 300 grain TC shock waves for decades Along with 150 grains of 777 pellets. I group like VAhunter with it at 100 yards. I set up a Nikon Monach 2.5-10 with ballistic circke (BDC)plex. sighted 3.75” high at 100 yards it was dead on all the way to 350 yards. When I tested the gun for drops it shot a 1 5/8” group at 200 yards, 2.5” group at 250 AND 300 yards!…at 350 yards my groups fell apart and opened up to 12”. They hit where I aim that’s for sure. As far as on game performance I am not that impressed. All my deer travel a minimum of 40 to 60 yards after double lung broad side shots. Had one go over a 100 yards last year before dropping. Dont think they open up good on thin skinned deer enough for a quick (instant)kill. They still get the job done and when I pull the trigger I know they’re dead. I just have to trail them.
