Most coefficient bullet for 243

Generally the heavier bullets, 115 grain, will have a better BC. But....what do you want to do with it ?
This will probably be a single feed round unless you have a long action(it will not fit in the magazine). You will need a custom barrel to stabilize it as well as nobody makes a 1:7" twist barrel on a factory rifle. Most guys can get by with the Berger 95 grains or SMK's without having to go to a custom barrel as you can shoot with a 1:9" twist. Many go to 1,000 yards or more with this.

Going to be a calling rifle
It is a a 1/9 twist
I don't norm save furs but might occasionally
I think lighter the better??

Just use a Sierra 85 gr. BTHP. Fairly good B.C. and is pretty tame on fur. Unless your shooting 1,000 yards there's no reason to use those long heavy bullets with the highest b.c.'s.

With a 1-9 twist, the highest BC bullets should not be of concern. You can't run them.

If you want to save fur, an 80-85gr TSX are more friendly than a ballistic tip or hollow point. Great on deer also.

The 2 bullets I run most out of my 243s right now are the 87gr V-max and 95gr Berger. I've not shot a yote with the Berger, but the V-max is highly destructive........

I have went to the 95 Berger great bullet for little to small the 105 Berger is great but you will have see if you 9 twist likes them have a lija 9 that loves them a schillen 9 that hates them

a 115 pointed DTAC will have a BC of .587 or so. As said before a 9 twist wont run them. Some 8 twist will and some wont. All 7.5 twist I have seen will.

87gr Vmax has a BC of .400 and will run in your 9 twist.
A 105 Hornady BTHP has a BC of .530 and will run also.

The 55gr NBT running close to 4000 gives up very little if anything at 300 and under. It will shoot fine from a 9 twist. It has a high BC for a 55gr bullet and seems to penetrate well on coyotes.

85gr Serria game king - not a great BC but a good all around deer/pig/coyote bullet in the 243. BC dont matter much under 300 yards.

I have killed coyotes with all of these bullets from 243's and 243AI's.

As I typ this I have just put another 243AI together yesterday evening with a 9 twist barrel. On this one I am going to set it up for my daughter to deer hunt, bang steel and kill a fews coyotes with. Will be working up a 105 Amax load for this rifle.

In my 12 twist 243AI coyote contest gun I am running 55gr NBT moving 4142 MV from a 26" barrel.

Good luck with your choice.

Stay after them
Kelly

105 Hornady HPBT from my 24" Remington 1/9 twist are very accurate, fly flat and fly far. BC is listed @ .530, I have run them out to a shade over 600yds on steel and they do not disappoint in the drop department.

WOW... do they knock coyotes down with authority?

one thing to keep in mind when looking at the coefficients on bullets as presented by the different factories is that, as I understand it, none of them use the same math formula for calculating it.

sierras formula tends to result in a lower number than does nosler and hornady.
