What's the best all around rifle sling you guys (gals too !)
you've discovered ? Anybody use the around the back military style ? I have yet to find one that suits me perfectly due to poor balance or sliding off my shoulder constantly.

Thanks !

Butler Creek. No metal. It slips over the barrel & the butt stock. Also has a padded stretchy shoulder pad. I like em!!

I like the safari sling. Cabelas carry it, I don't know who else. It has a loop that straddles the barrel and the stock. Slung over the left shoulder and carried horizontal under the right arm. lets me rest my right hand on the scope and requires very little movement to bring the gun up into firing position. Works great when you bump into mr. yote on the way to or from a stand. Also comfortable for long walks. Can be adjusted for over the shoulder carry for climbing or hunt'n with a buddy.

I like the Claw also. My most used one is starting to show signs of wear after only 2 years though. Little tiny bits of the rubber have gone awol. Gander Mountain sells what appear to be Claw slings under the Winchester name. Last time I was there they were $10, a lot cheaper than Cabelas.

Just a rifle sling that's way head of the rest in terms of comfort and usefulness. And they cost a whole bunch less than your wife's purse. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

It's a designer sling for those high society "posh" up town rifles! But it works well even on my old warhorses. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Seriously, my father-in-law swears by those Vellini slings (He's former Spec. Ops. so he knows a thing or two)...I just personally like how the Claw "sticks" to your shoulder when your climbing up and over stuff.....

How can you be hunting with your gun slung on your shoulder? Hold it in your hands so you can shoot it. The only time my gun is slung is when I'm taking a leak.
