most conservative state

i am about ready to get out of oregon. we are blessed to have the 2nd highest tax rate in the world and they are planning on raising taxes even higher.
i would love montana or idaho but am unsure of the job market and i am getting to where the cold bothers me. i would also like to stay on this side of the rockys. commiefornia is out of the question.
how would you rate your state?

CO rates pretty high for me. But you have to consider that I have lived here all my life and other than visiting other states I have nothing to compare it to.
It may not be the greatest but it certainly isn't the worst. Lots of hunting, lots of sun, lots of snow, good fishing. Ya just have to know your way around.

It is too bad that OR and WA east of the Cascades couldn't secede and merge to become a new state. It would be mostly rural and conservative and the 'big cities' would be places like Spokane and Bend.

One of the reasons that I moved to Idaho is that it is a very conservative state. I believe all the counties in the last presidential election except one or maybe two voted for McCain. I bet the one or two that voted Obama wish that they did not now!

Anyway, the weather is fine here in the Boise area for the most part. Much milder even than middle Tennessee where I moved from. This suprised me but I will not complain. This is high desert so the humidity is very low.

Also there are fewer murders in Idaho for the entire year than some cities have in a week. Not just murder but all crimes in general. It still makes me chuckle when I go to the grocery or hardware store and notice all the cars with the keys in the ignition.

Good hunting, fishing, and just lots of places to shoot. I have private shooting range only 2 miles from my house. Rifle, pistol and shotgun areas and membership is- get this- $25 a year!

Come pay us a visit and see. Plenty of room for more good conservative here. You will be in good company!

that wouldnt do us much good here. portland and eugene are both on the west side and were the only blue areas last election. the rest of the state was mostly red.

Yeah, it is the same phenomenon in WA. Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle and to some extent Bellingham, ruin everything for all the rest of the normal people. Heck, it is even like that back East here in MD. Baltimore and the DC suburbs screw the place up for everybody else.

Idaho is still a conservative state but the population of libs is huge and growing in Boise. We soon will be like other states where the big city population can out vote the rural counties. It is 24 degrees outside as I type this. Not to bad.

Oh come now, Bart! I work in Boise and yes there are some liberals (mainly on the nothern end) of Boise but huge? Not what I would call huge by any stretch of the imagination. I have lived in 6 states and several town and cities and Boise is far and away the most conservative. You aint going to escape liberals any more that you are going to escape homosexuals and pedophiles no matter where you live. But liberals are still just a fraction of this wonderful state, Boise included. I hope that it stays that way for a long long time. It better, or else I will be moving!

I've worked in Boise all my adult life. I've seen the growth. I've watched the changes. We may soon be like Oregon and Washington. It's just a matter of time. How soon I don't know but at one time I bet the rural counties could out vote the big cities in those states.

Not Minnesota, that's for [beeep] sure. I have visited Mississippi several times and for a Yank I have never had any trouble fitting in down there. A bunch of real right wingers if I ever saw any.

North Dakota for sure, the whole state only has 600,000 people and a good majority of them are ranchers and farmers.
You can shoot coyotes from your truck and you can keep a loaded uncased gun in the truck (no round in the chamber though) We also have the shoot the burglar law, you have the right to protect your self and PROPERTY in your house by deadly force. They took it one step further and barred any civil litigation related to using deadly force in your own home.

Oh I forgot we have a 1 Billion dollar budget surplus for 2009. Not to make it sound to good so you guys want to shoot all my dogs it does get cold as [beeep] here in the winter.
