Motion Ball for Decoy

Where can I find a website for that Motion Ball everyone talks about from Toys R US!? No luck with Toys R US!

Don't have the web site. But I can offer some insight. No pun intended.

I own a Bumble Ball that I bought from Toys R Us.

I have not hunted with it yet, but in "un-camoed" form, it absolutely transfixes predators. Especially house cats!

Lots of jumping and gyrations.

If you got a KB toy store buy you they normaly have them but if not they can order them for you the one i have is called a weasel ball and it works good...I glue some rabbit fur to it an mounted it on a old fiberglass ram rod with a spring an it works real good....

I've got the weasle ball also. I mounted mine on a small piece of wood. This wood is then mounted to an upside down L piece of wood which can be held in place by 2 bolts through it. This connects it to the top piece of wood on the support bar which is a 36" small steel rod (wood & steel camo painted) which has a small piece of wood mounted on the top (drilled hole most of the way through it & glued on ) which is used to push the rod into earth. This piece of wood allows me to bolt the L shaped wood which goes over it onto the steel piece.

The weasle ball is then inserted into a stuffed critter which "shakes" because of the weasle ball. Had to remove quite a bit of the stuffing to get the weasle ball stuck up far enough into the bottom of decoy. I'd post a picture of it but don't know how-fact is my computer doesn't even show the pictures others post-it just shows a red X. Any idea whats wrong with that?

Right click on it, and one of the choices should be "show picture". Click on that it should show up. I have to do that sometimes, don't ask me why.

You can also do a search with Google for Decoy Heart. I ordered mine directly from the gentleman who makes them. I called him up and he gave me a lot of pointers. He's a real good guy.

Your hard earned loot would be far better spent purchasing a new scope or ammo or reloading components. Probably 90% of the coyotes I shoot are dropped well before they would ever have a chance to see a weeble wobble in the grass. I always advise a guy to set his stand, then get out to where the coyote would likely come in, lie on his belly, so his eyes are 14 inches above the ground, and just see how close he has to get to see the wobbly fur ball....you most likely have to be right on top of the damned thing for it to be of any realized value. If a guy just feels he has to have a decoy, others have suggested using a chicken wing feather tied with mono in a brush limb, easy, cheap and provides everything one would want in a decoy, for damned near nothing in cost. Decoys have to be one of the most unnecessary items peddled to us as predator hunters.

Google Search for Mini Bumble Ball

I'd go w/ the mini bumble ball if you're going to do it. Less bulky and I'd assume quieter, the big ones are freaking LOUD!

I tend to agree w/ Chili. Decoys have thier place, mostly in tight places where you're expecting up-close and/or fast moving action. When you're in tight quarters like shotgunning here in AZ, the decoy pulls a predators attention from you, allowing you to swing around on them easier.

The other place a decoy is really going to come in handy (and I don't speak from personal experience) is when calling or bobcat. They'll pay attention to stalking the decoy and masking thier movement from it and not you (or the sound you're making).

Personally, I like the decoy when I call. I've got one from Cabela's, the decoy heart with the rabbit fur(fake) already around it. It's connected to a dowel by a spring, and you can stick in the ground, turn it on, and start calling. I called a single coyote in yesterday using it, and I think thats how I got him. I set up in the exact same spot I had called 2 weeks ago, called one in then, but couldn't get him any closer than 300 yards before he took off. Yesterday I howled 3 times with my ELK Power Howler, 3 times with my Talley-ho, then used the Talley-ho as a rabbit distress. As I was putting my hand down, I saw what I think is the same coyote, at about 2 o'clock. He was looking right at me at about 300 yards. Luckily, the decoy was set up about ten yards away right in line. I thought I was made! He took off heading to my left and disappeared. Thought he was gone. Used my old JS rubber band mouth call and called for about 2-3 min. All of a sudden, I saw him coming in from 11 o'clock about 250 yards away. He'd stop about every 50 yards, but his attention was always on the decoy. I brought him within 50 yards and took him. I really don't think I would have gotten him if not for the decoy. Kept his attention. Yeah, they cost a little money, but hey, we've wasted(spent, I mean), a lot of money on worse haven't we?

Anyone remember the fad in the 70's n 80's called roach clips? With the feathers attached? (yes i knew what they were for) I have used a grey set with two extra feathers from a crows tail added on longer strings to keep attention off me. As long as there is even a puff of wind they move well, and show you the wind direction at the decoy also.

bumble balls are sold through a lot of pet stores also. All the ones I have called or visited this week are sold out, though.

How about a brown or green balloon, with a lead weight and some mono fishing line. Just enough movement in the grass to keep them occupied (remember, predators ARE curious critters)

I will report on this idea after this weekend.
