I have looked at Riser Bases and Standard Rings etc. and for someone that knows nothing about AR's this is indeed confusing.
Thanks

Larry, I helped a friend of mine build an AR LTWT like the one that I've got. He already had a Bushy Varminter, so he bought the same risers that the Varminter uses to put on his second flat top rifle. The risers run about $30(?) from Bushy. IIRC, he uses medium rings on his rifle w/the risers. To stay out of trouble, I'll skip brand names of rings here. He swaps a Zeiss scope between the two rifles with no apparent problems and he's happy with the sight picture that he gets with this setup. I've also fired his Bushy with the riser/ring setup and it fits me pretty well too. This is another viable option for scoping a flat top, in addition to other mounting systems that raise the scope mounting platform up to eye level. You can also find uppers with an EOP (Elevated Opitcal Platform) already built on them. These will just require a ring setup of choice. So you can choose from risers w/rings, various elevated platforms, ie. Armalite, LaRue, etc., rings of assorted heights, ie. Badger Ordnance, ARMS, etc, or an EOP upper. One more thing, if you go to: http://www.ar15.com/ you can find pictures, links to vendors and ideas for mounting your scope to an AR. FWIW MI VHNTR
