Mouth calls for crows........?

I've got an OLD Lohman crow call that really sounds great. I'm trying to find a good custom crow call to mix things up. Saturday was opening day here for crows, and they didn't want anything to do with the Foxpro sounds. They did come to my mouth call though. I bought a custom call in Nashville (turkey federation) and it sounds awful. My buddy suggested I give it to the grandkids to play with. Do any of our custom call makers make good sounding crow calls? Any calls (custom or production) you have had good luck with on crows?

A few guys here make crow callers I think. Browse their sites for a look see.

Heres one I use that really gets the noisy buggers going and pulls them in. It's spalted oak.

darell gibson makes some great calls . but you dont have to spend tons of money on a crow call i just use the one i have for turkey season if it tears up o well just but another cheap .

who am i kidding do as soon as i get the money i will be buying one from these guys on here who make em .

I don't know anything about the Foxpro crow sounds, but if you can find a cd of Johnny stewart crow sounds and load them on your Foxpro, you won't be dissapointed.

I have killed lots with the Johnny Stewart Crow and Owl fight. I've never tried any but the cheap mouth calls. I've never heard a bad word about the Gibson call.

+1 for yotehunter57's comments about the JS CT 206 Crow Distress with Owl Fight. Transferred it to my FoxPro
Wildfire recently.
Add an Owl decoy and some black plastic bags wrapped and tied to look like downed crows and you will be very busy.
Recently tried the FoxPro crow fight 270 and dying crow 275 calls included with Wildfire and the called crows flew right over my head so they'll do good.
I also use a handcall, Haydel's Crow call TC-87 and it works fine.
If someone on this forum is making custom crow calls I'm sure they'll equal or surpass what I'm using but these work for me.
Of course, full camo head to fingers.

Sir,
I have a couple of crow toneboards/reeds on hand.

If you'd like me to make up a call for you, just send me a "private message".
I don't make wood calls, or turn.

But, I could make the body from cow horn, bison horn, whitetail, mule deer, or elk.

I kill a few hundred a year using Foxpro sounds. The newer Crows and Crows2 work very well to start off then once I knock a few down I switch to distress. I also have Bob Aronsohn calls from Foxpro and they do quite well.

Most of my crow calling has been with an electronic call.

As mentioned, the Johnny Stewart sound (Crow and Owl Fight) has been my #1 call for many years. I've tried a lot of sounds over the years, and that particular one is by far the best crow calling sound I have ever used.

I have called crows with mouth calls, but haven't tried a really top notch call. Mine have been cheap ones, but I've had moderate success with them.

Here is a video clip you might find interesting. I went on a crow shoot near Cape Town, South Africa a few years back. I did the video work while a friend did the shooting. He used an electronic call (Foxpro) and supplimented it with mouth calls.

Guys, I don't actually think the original poster wanted a better call.

I sent him a pm offering to make him one.
I got no reply, although he did read the pm.

I then made a crow call & before I posted it for sale in the Custom Calls, I sent him another pm, offering it to him.
Again, it said that he had read the pm, but he never replied.

I hope I'm wrong about the guy, or that someone else was able to help him.

If he's not interested in, as I understand it, a free call, then it's his loss. Maybe there's more to the story.

Either way, that was a very nice gesture and honorable thing you did, to offer him one. Doing the right thing is never wrong.

Will, my fault, been having computer problems and just yesterday noticed I had a pm. My computer keeps kicking me off the site with my name and password. I do appreciate your pm and am interested in a call. Don't know what happened, but only got one pm. Don't count me out, send me some info and pics on some calls. Again, sorry I didn't notice my pm.

Update: Got my "custom" crow call from Will a couple of days ago.......NICE. Haven't gotten it in the field yet, but sounds good. Thanks Will for a great call!
