hello everyone. i have put some 15 calls on to my comp. but i dont seem to be able to find a way to send them to disc as mp3's for the walkman type player i got for the homemade e-caller(supposed to be able to put about 24 hours of sound on to one disc, on this cd player that plays mp3)has any body tried it before?

I'm not sure what your asking, but will try to help you with what I think your looking for...

To transfer the sounds to a CD you have to have a CD burner on your computer. If you do have one and have been able to transfer the sounds but the player will not play them, it may be the format that the sounds are in.

You can download a converter to change them from .mp3 to .wav or vice versa or other formats, depending on the program. I use dbPowerAmp for my conversions, it's easy to use, you just right click and select the format to change it to and everything else is done by the program.

If you are trying to play a CD then the sounds will have to be in .wav format in order for the player to be able to read them. If you are using a mp3 player, then you will have to use the .mp3 format. Most mp3 players have a cable that is used to send the sounds to the unit from the computer.

I hope this helps, but if you are still having trouble feel free to let us know and we will try to come up with a solution for ya... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Only thing I'd add to Robert's reply is that there are indeed now CD players that play MP3s recorded to discs.

My problem in recording and burning CDs (.wav files) were with a machine running NT4.0 that had an older SCSI burner which would refuse to burn discs sometimes, would never burn them using Adaptec Easy CD Creator unless the tracks were mirrored in their entirety on the hard drive somewhere. Later burners and other programs, no problem.

My best guess would be to suspect the burner first; could you borrow someone else's machine? Too, you might make sure that the blank disc media you buy matches the burner (with older burners, I found some newer media flat out doesn't work). If it all proves to be too much of a hassle, maybe go buy an MP3 player and skip this burning CD step altogether? That's what I ended up doing...

Hello varmintx. I'm not sure what software you have, but you may want to consider getting something like Roxio EZ CD Creator 5 from http://www.roxio.com if your CD recording software is not up to date, or maybe Nero Burning Rom. If you have the sounds on your hard drive saved as .wav files, you'll need to get the software to convert them to .mp3 format first like Robert mentioned. You can download the converter from this address: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm .

Next, start up your CD recording software and click on "make a music CD", then click "MP3CD Project" (if you are using Roxio EZ CD Creator) as in the screenshot below:
roxio.jpg

You'll then need to drag and drop the .mp3 files into the bottom window of Roxio, or right-click / copy on the .mp3 files and then right-click / paste into the bottom window.
I'm not sure what you'll click in Nero or other CDRW / DVDR software, but it should be similar.

Once you record the CD in this format, it should work fine unless there is something wrong with your CDRW drive or the computer/software itself, or the drive you are playing it back on has a problem or doesn't support MP3 CDs.
Hope this helps.

thanks guys, Robert i am sorry that i didn't reply earlier but once i got your advice i downloaded it then finally got them all mp3'd but i had to do each one at a time then figure out how to burn but it finally happened. when i got it all done i had about 45 min. till dark so i had to run up the road and try it then worked today. in Mo. you not supposed to use e-caller after dark. and yes LionHo it is the cd/mp3 and i was in hurry to get it going (2-3weeks already)so had a hard time explaining it, thanks for clarifying it. also the straight mp3's cost more whereas this one cost $53 and is more versatile i think. Gary i will check on that Roxio stuff. my comp. i got in december last year (HP pavillion 563w) also my first comp. so am trying to learn this stuff to fast on my on. the sounds turned out good i think but so far nothing but crows have agreed, now to find more sounds.
