Mueller Eraticator vs. Nikon Buckmaster....

I need to pick up a few more scopes and I would like to keep them in the nikon buckmaster price range (I already have several of these and know what they are like), I was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to use a Mueller Eraticator next to a Nikon Bm and compare? Is the Mueller about the same clarity-quality? There is no place around here that carries the Mueller so I can't go compare them myself and I hate to throw a couple hundred bucks at something when I could get something better for a little more. Anyway, input would be appreciated.

Thanks

The short answer is no… the Nikon is the better scope in both clarity and quality. However, the Nikon is also more expensive by around $75 to $100.00 dollars.

The new Nikon Buckmaster’s boast a 92% light transmission and comes with a side focus parallax adjustment (great if you use scope covers). Nikon Buckmaster scopes

The Mueller is a decent scope – I had the 6-24X50 on a 22-250 for a while that I used for squirrels, it did the job. However that rifle now wears a 6.5-20 Nikon Monarch.

Your going to hear everyone’s preference (Mine is for the Nikon), but in the end you need to decide which will serve you best and fit within your budget.

Mueller never made a 6-24X50 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

To me anything over 16x is overkill...plus on humid days good luck trying to see anything through your scope....that being said...I considered the Mueller 4x16, but I bought the Nikon BM in 4.5x14 and I will be buying more of those scopes. The Nikon is only $38 more, so I picked it over the Mueller...cannot beat Nikon's warranty.

my nikons are probably better, but damn I sure like the 4-16 tactical from mueller, besides costing less, it does everything I ask it to do. The one thing I can't tell about is their warranty policy, cause it doesn't need fix'n

sure do like the look of the side focus nikons, we dont get these in england, what could i compare it to, for example, i was thinking of a vx111 leupold, how does the nikon compare?

I own two Muellers the 8.5x25x50 Eraticator sits on top of my 300 ultra mag for Elk hunting and the 4x16x50 Tactical is on my cz 24 custom 25 06 for deer and varmints.
I shoot well under 1/2" moa at a 100 yds with either one.
I have only shot paper so far with the ultra mag out to 500 yds and if I do my part I can get groups of between 2.5 and 3.5 inches all day and this is with factory shells /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I am very happy with the Muellers, for the money you cant beat them as for Nikons I have never owned one but here they are great scopes. The Tactical on my 06 I bought because of the lit crosshairs for night hunting this is goig to be great it has 11 differnt intensity settings /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif As for warranty they both have a lifetime warranty to the original owner. You can look at there product line at www.theopticzone.com good prices and great customer service. Goodluck in your shopping. robertjay53

Robertjay53, the Mueller warranty is good to any owner as long as he/she has the original sales receipt.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

If at any time during the warranty period a Mueller scope is found to have a defect in material or workmanship, Mueller will, at our discretion, repair or replace it free of charge. The warranty is void if damage results from unauthorized repair, alteration, abuse or misuse. The warranty is transferable and we do not require a registration card to be completed, we only require a copy of the original receipt, which must be from an authorized Mueller Optics dealer. Please be sure when transferring the Scope to another user that a copy of the receipt is also transferred. Mueller reserves the right to replace any product, which has been discontinued from its product line with a new product of comparable value and function. This warranty shall be void if and no force of effect if an Mueller warranty inspector has determined the Mueller product has been abused, misused, mishandled or tampered with in anyway whatsoever. No implied warranty of this product is extended. Some states do not allow limitations of implied warranty so this limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which may vary from state to state.

IMHO, the need for the original receipt is a load of crap. What do they need it for? If someone has a valid answer to this question please tell me. To me it's just a way for them to get out of having to fix it. You can go find a 30yr. old Leupold lying in a field and send it in and they will fix it. As long as it says "Leupold" on the side, that's all that matters--2MG
