multi-tool advise

Hi guys,
I have a good fixed blade knife. I got it from my grandfather. In addition, I would like to take a quality multi-tool. It is a season of sales now, so I hope I will save some bucks on it. Can you recommend any reliable model/brand? USA made is preferred.
thanks

Leatherman has always been a good tool for me. The Swisstool by Victorinox is excellent also.

I carried several leatherman tools in the Marines. There was a time when they issued them to us. Then Gerber came out and that same one lasted, and I still have it from 1998.
Gerbers hold the blade longer, the pliers are better, and the cutters never went dull after cutting thousands of comm wire.

There is a model now that has replaceable wire cutter teeth, and can use Jig saw blades, that can be changed out when dull easily.

There are plenty of models out there that work great, and will fit your needs. My Marine buddies gave my 10yr old daughter a small one for her birthday last month, and a mag flint block. With that and some cord you could survive in the woods.

I wouldn't ever buy anything other than a Gerber, and last i heard they were standard issue now for some groups.

One thing for sure, if your not sure about what to get, go to a store and hold them, play with them, it shouldn't take long to see what i am talking about. IMO of course.. lol

I have the Leatherman Wave and a Skeletool CX. I like the fact I can access the knife on both without having to open the tool. I lost my first Wave and replaced it with the Skeletool. I like the Skeletool but it was not a Wave. I bought another Wave as you can do so much more with it. I use the Wave at work almost daily and the Skeletool is my go to for backpacking.

I have used almost every tool Leatherman has to offer and would personally go with either a Super tool 300 or the OHT. The main benefit is that Leatherman has hands down on of the best warranties out there. I broke an original Super tool in half where the pliers join one day elbow deep in my Ford Bronco and could only find one half. I called Leatherman and explained the situation and I mailed the the half I had and they sent back a brand new Super tool 300. I later found the other half during an oil change.
