My DIY Reloading bench

I just wanted to share some pics of my reloading bench that i built for about $25. I had been using a basic lee loader classic for a while, then I came into a bit of money and i was able to afford a lee challenger kit along with nice dies and that type of stuff. I'm expecting the package with this stuff to arrive in the next hour or two. But, I had to bear a five day wait because of the weekend, so i figured id whip up a nice little something to mount it on. The framework is all 2x4's that cost me the $25. The plywood on the top and the lower deck/shelf part, Is really expensive marine grade plywood that my dad had lying around after doing some restoration work on an old sea ray. The top looks stained because i used wood petrifier that was also left over from the boat to make the top super tough/hard. Its so hard i can only leave a barely noticeable dent with a hammer on it. Ill post some more pics when the press comes and i get it mounted.Tell me what you guys think though, not bad for a 16 year old aye?

Looks good but I think you are gonna need to screw it to a few studs in the wall to keep it from rocking when sizing brass and stuff... Run a 2x4 ledger horizontal along the top edge, find the studs and put a couple in each one for the length of yer bench... Should be nice and steady

Looks like you are taking wood shop in school

The only thing I would suggest is that you lag screw it to a couple of wall studs so when you are using your press to size brass the bench wont tip over towards you.

Trust me wood shop is childs play for me, when you build one of these bad boys w/ your dad when you are about 8, it comes natural. But yeah, I do have the plywood screwed down is multiple places so it wont make any smacking noinse or give any play when under stress. Well, my stuff just got here in the last 2 minutes so im about to get crackin'.

Sorry if you took what I said about wood shop as a derogatory remark. It was not meant like that at all but a complement.

I think that is a great looking reloading bench.

i built the terrarium out of a big old mirror, i took off the mirror w/ some acid, cut it, then siliconed it together for my gargoyle gecko, here are two videos i made about it.

And also, above where i was referring to "this bad boy" I meant to post this pic

It's not the plywood that we are saying will move...It's the whole bench... You need to screw it to some studs in the wall like we were suggesting for it to be steady otherwise you are gonna get a lot of movement when sizing brass... See my post above about how to screw it to the wall...Just trying to help

Well, this is what it looks like so far, of course its extra messy due to the fact that im still getting all the new equipment situated.

Even if it seems pretty steady right now, after cranking a bunch of rounds, and especially if you get a stuck/tight one, you will be wishing that you had it anchored to the wall...

When I built mine, I had to use three lag bolts into the studs to keep it stable and unmovable...

A bigger bench? The thing's 5'long and 2' wide. How much bigger? I have plenty of space below and i am already planning a shelf above it.

And this is how it looks now that i've tidied up. Most of the clutter all over it was tools from setting up the new equipment.

I say nice construction, however I must agree on maybe anchor to the wall.
I am a little spoiled and have 1/4 of the basement for my reloading/cleaning activities room, but that looks like it should work nicely for you, and actually what I would recommend to my friend who has all the equipment but has not set everything up yet...it`s only been 3-4 yrs. lol

If you plan on keeping the laptop on the bench, you will wind up needing more bench room...even running just one press, you still need functional room for loading trays, powder dispenser, scale, brass prep tools, and tumbler...

My 'gun room' has three six foot benches with shelving and I'm still trying to figure out where to put everything that I use on a regular basis...

yeah, the laptop really is there just because i was watching a video about adjusting the dies. And, i dont need a whole lot oof room as i only have a 270 to load for but even in the future i dont expect have a bunch of guns. its still not bad for a setup under $200.
