My first duck hunt!

Well I have been wanting to duck hunt for a while and decided I was done waiting for someone to teach me so I went out on my own and what a good time! I only shot one duck but being my first time I was very happy but to put the icing on the cake it was a beautiful Redhead. Thought I would share it with you guys

Hey, good for you. I saw a couple of small flocks of Redheads this fall, but couldn't get a shot. They are allmost rare here. Pretty birds.

This hunt was a lot of fun. When you shoot a canada goose, you know you have shot something. They are BIG and fly a lot faster than you think.

I shot this goose on Thanksgiving morning. He was as big a gander as I have ever seen. He tried to fight with Brandy, but I didnt let it get to that point. He just got an extra finishing shot.

congrats . my dad used to take me when i was bout 8 , i didnt get to shoot and it was all pass shooting ... now he is amazed at the decoys and such .... i remember my first duck , it was a drake woodie and i was 13-14 yrs old ... a redhead is a rare thing out here , killed my first red in kansas 3 yrs ago and had it looked like yours it would b on my wall !!! congrats again !!!!!!!!!
 


Congrats on your first duck...way to get out there and find em yourself!!

I remember my first duck, it was a hen mallard and the beginning of an awesome ride into the world of duck hunting!!
 
Beautiful redhead, I duck hunt all winter here in Indiana and it gets into your blood. The nice thing is you can go big or just throw out a few decoys on a creek you've seen a few ducks using an have a great time. Congratulations on the first duck!!

That's some great plumage for this early. Duck hunting is by far my favorite form of hunting. I absolutely love sitting in some cold rain or snow, with. Nasty wind, waiting for the wings to cup up. I am still amazed in the way they fly, and how they can juke and dive. Something magical, IMHO.
