Christened my new model 70 tonight with a nice male. He came in to a distress call, got spooked and I woofed at him and he stopped, bang and it was over. New rifle and a Timney trigger don’t get much better.
I rolled in just before dark setup and tucked in on the West side of the timbered, brushy fence line so I’d be in the shadows’ escaping the moon lit evening. Parked my ATV in chest high grass in a little draw just North of me and setup my call about 75yds out in a freshly cut bean field. Waited until it was good and dark and started calling with a distress call for about 4 minutes, went stealth and waited awhile, Wasn’t long, about 8:00 coyote comes in from behind me to the Northeast, I was hidden from the North by 5’ grass and weeds so he couldn’t get a visual on me. He spotted my electronic caller, and I think the red light spooked him just enough he lost curiosity, anyway, as he was departing I woofed at him, he stopped and my suppressed shot pierced the night air, he dropped in his tracks and legs went straight up. Since this was the 1st time on this farm this year I decided to count my blessings and call it an evening. Tomorrow is another unseen challenge! I’ll get a video posted tomorrow.
