My New Ruger American predator 6.5CM

Hi new here.
My search for a Ruger AP 6.5 brought me here.
I found a post regarding these rifles.
Well I figured I would share my experience with y'all.
First off I have been looking for one since I first heard about it.
7 months later I luck out and pick one up last Thursday.
I got it home that night and opened up box. My first impressions are this is a sharp lil rifle. This is one of those that you can bump around and not feel guilty about it.
I had a Ruger m77 Target in 6.5cm a couple of years ago that my cousin just had to have but I liked the round so much I put back a couple of boxes of ammo for my next one. So
I got it home and slapped a scope on it and took it to the field Friday afternoon.
My first two shots were low and right. Moved the scope got it zeroed. And put 5 more shots in a 1 1/4 group @110yards. Mind you This was not benched it was off my rolled up jacket on the door of my pickup .I was pressed for time so that was the best I could do. I shot the hornady 120gr Amax load. This has proved to be a great all around load for my cousin and I in the past. I hit the woods Sunday and laid out a couple of does. This is a very handy lil rig. I will post results of a better range trip when I get a chance to really try to shoot groups for accuracy off the bench. So far for a $450 factory 6.5cm I am pleased. Other things I should mention. The trigger is nice the barrel is fully free floated and the action (short lift) is sweet!

You're going to love the Ruger ... and the Creedmoor.

To get the best out of the rifle you may want to entertain reloading. I have a Hawkeye Predator in 6.5 and it is starting to show great results.

Welcome to Predator Masters!

................. and Merry Christmas !!

Thanks for the welcome!
The Ruger target 6.5 I had was a very nice rifle.
I really liked it but I didn't have time to shoot long range like I planed to. My cousin still has it and hunts everything with it.
I'm a big fan of .264 cal in general and hand load everything I shoot except shotgun & this. I need to pick up some dies I haven't been able to find any locally. If anyone has a set they dont need lmk.
Oh my only gripe so far about this new RAP6.5 if you can call it a gripe is. The action was pretty ruff out of the box, it gets smoother as I cycle it though. I thought about trying a break on it but I can see my hits thru the scope so I'm not sure the extra sound will be worth it.

I would love to throw a can on it but my local LE won't sign off on one.
And I don't have the $ to get the papers drawn up thru a lawyer.
That would actually be the best thing to screw onto it!

Deadeye, I have the Ruger American in 22 250 and just put a 204 predator American on lay away I just love them! Good luck with the new rifle.

Thanks wildcat!
I found a 22-250 RAP at one of my local shops I was thinking of doing the same with! I have been holding out for one in 223 because I want a fast twist 22 to shoot 75gr AMaxs.
I love my 6.5 it's just a handi lil rig!! How do you like the 250?
I was actually going to buy the one I saw but I found the 6.5 15min later at cabelas.

I have the standard version in 223, just a heads up the mag length won't allow for the 75 Amax, the American 223 mag doesn't allow much room for longer bullets.

Good to know. Have you tried the Hornady 75gr BTHP?
Wonder how they would do... My cousin bought a box of the 75gr AMaxs for his ar and couldn't use them due to mag length but the bthps work for him. Guess I could always single load em.

I have tried the 75 bthp, not extensively though. 3 different charges of Varget at 100 yards is all I've done and hAvent had time to work with it since. I would have to go through my notes but if I recall all 3 charges shot right close to an inch with one group closer to .75.

I am so green with envy with your 6.5 pred... I have a suppressor (Silencerco Harvester) in jail just for the rifle you bought... I am looking everywhere for that rifle.

As for the 250, Its still in the box awaiting some glass.. The twist is just what i want to toy with.

You might try cabelas. I have been watching GOG and KYGunCo for months waiting for one. They pop up then sell out just as quick as they can. I been wanting one since before they released it. Waiting and searching for everything I could find on them. I emailed ruger twice about them getting on the ball lol. I just stumbled upon mine. I saw the 22-250 is still on the shelf at my LGS. I am real tempted to knock it off. I will try to get in a real accuracy test in the upcoming days. I know I was looking for one when I was on my search. I'll tell y'all this. The accuracy review done on you tube about the RAP 223 showed it shooting all over the place. It kinda had me worried but don't sweat it that must have been a fluke.
