Nady 151 antenna

After doing some searching, it appears that some have added a collapsible antenna or some other form of rigid antenna to the Nady units. What antenna was used? Any advice, pictures or "how to" information would be greatly appreciated. I've heard that if you use the wrong antenna that reception could worsen. Also, I've noticed that some stereo cables have "foil" wrapping around the inside of the insulation - does this hinder reception when used as a cable/antenna or help?

You might want to check with a ham radio store, such as Ham Radio Outlet, AES, Gigaparts, or Texas Towers to see that the antenna works across the frequency band that the Nady operates on.

For example, my Nady DKW-1 works across the 170-216 mHz bands, so I need a dual band (2M/70cm) antenna, and a straight 2M antenna may not work as well. I'd check with the geeks that do radios all the time to be sure.

Measure the antena length and use that as a starting point. Ideal or maximum may ba a little different, but that will get you close.

I'm finishing up a page on adding an antena to the 151vr, maybe tonight, at least with all the pictures

Here is how I did it.
