Natural Gear Jacket.........

I have heard so many good things about Natural Gear's hunting clothing that i just had to check it out,

One of the things that i really liked was the cost , that is some inexpensive stuff compared to what cabelas sells, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Anyway i am looking for a jacket that is insulated,

I was wondering if anyone has the "Boomer Jacket"?
Description: Insulated with 7 oz. quilted Hollofil®, this bomber-style jacket is ideal for cold-weather hunting. Qiet, 100% 8 oz. sued cotton twill shell
----Price: $67.99

If someone can kinda give me an idea on if the jacket is warm during cold weather, if it is quiet, and if it is at all waterproof?

Thanks

Nick~

I don't own that jacket, but you'd need to use insulated bibs with a short jacket like that. The material for the outer shell:

Quiet, 100% 8 oz. sued cotton twill shell
is soft and very quiet--no krinkly wrinkly sounds. I don't think it is heavy enough to be worn alone over just a long-sleeved hunting shirt if the weather gets into the 20s or below, especially if there is some wind. BUT, remember, I have never used this jacket, so I am not speaking from personal experience, just from a comparison to some of the jackets that I own.

I saw some Natural Gear at sportsmans warehouse when I was in Colorado. Good lookin stuff. They did not have any jackets on display, just pants and shirt.

I ordered the 3D suit from nat.gear a couple of days ago, along with the snow camo parka, will be here friday. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm sure if you ordered the jacket and did not like it they would take it back. They seem like nice folks.

They were kind enough to call me to tell me my order would be delayed a couple of days because their warehouse was closed for inventory.

Even if the jacket is not as heavy as you want, just layer your clothing and it works just as well. For me its hard to shoulder my rifle if I'm wearing a bulky jacket.

I usually wear a thermal top, long sleeve tee and a light jacket. Of course it's not as cold here as back east.......

Your right nat.gear is much cheaper than alot of the stuff Cabela's sells.

When I went to their store in Sydney Neb, I was disappointed that they did not have any 3D camo on display. There were several items I wanted to buy, none of them were on display. Would of had to order it out of the catalog. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I think I'll go total nat.gear camo, they don't change their patterns like so many other companys do and you have to mix-match your stuff because they discontinued an item of clothing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

One of my biggest complaints with camo is that some of it fades too fast as I frequently wash mine. I know that others haev different philosophies but I really am a believer in keeping scent off my clothes and I believe that the "hunters" type detergents are more effective than the spray. I sure would like to know how the colors on the nat gear hold up to repeated washings. The best camo I have yet to find is Cabela's Micro-Tex. I have some that I purchased 4 years ago and have been washed many times not to mention the abuse in the field from predator, deer-bow, deer-gun, deer-smokepole, turkey and squirrel seasons. They honestly look good as new except mild wear in the seat and even milder wear in the knees. It is colorfast, quiet, and warm. My only complaint with the micro-tex is that it does not stretch at all. As I near 30, my 6-pack is starting to turn in to a keg and I find that my 4 year old camo is now a little snug. So anyway, after my dissertation, how does this Nat-Gear hold up?

I found a vender in Arkansas that sells the whole line of Natural Gear camo for a lot less than Cabela's.

I just bought a full set of there snow camo, pants, parka, ball cap, and face mask for $84.00 and that included the shipping!

If you want there email address let me know. When I get home I'll forward it to you. Ask to deal with Brandy.

I have the Nat Gear 4x4 conceilment (sp) jacket. This is a 2 piece, Outer and liner coat. Extreemly warm and water proof. Havent seen the bomber jacket you are talking about

Heres a good Idea, buy some raw nat gear camo material and have a seamstress sew you a parka lengh shell. wear what ever you want underneath and use the parka any time of the year. here is the address of the material smccain@natrualgear.com sondra mcCanin is the person to talkk to 7 bucks a yard and its 60 inches wide

Howler that would be the ticket right there. Have it made 5 feet by 5 feet. Would make a excellent poncho to keep in the calling bag, that I keep in the truck. Would you cut arms holes in it or just let them stick out of the bottom?

Wow thanks for all the replies,

22-250VT : Is there prices cheaper then Natural Gear's Site? Could you please email me there website, my email is [url=mailto:nickmyron@hotmail.com

It is fairly quiet, kinda bulky, and the liner is not water resistant. Just the shell. But both are way warm by them self. and Super warm together.

I didn't make a poncho it was a parka lenght coat had a hood zipped up the front and 2 side pockets, got the pattern from walmart. cost me 15 bucks to have it made, plus the material. I think 3 yards. this is very versitile wear it when it is cold or warm.

Nick, I have that jacket, and its nice, around here, the temp., runs about 20 to 70 degrees, and the jacket comes off at above 55, for my area the camo is perfect.

Nick,I have the jacket and really like it. It keeps me warm to -15 ( the coldest i've worn it) Lots of pockets and the reversable liner IS water resistant. Cheapest ive seen it is $179 up to XL. Get one and dont look back.

Does anyone have there "Full-Zip Fleece Jacket":

SM_FZipFleece.jpg

Description: 430 Gram Ironside Fleece, w/2 zippered hand warmer pockets and cadet style collar.
----$59.99

I think this might be my best choice, depending on what your guy's experience with it is....
Fleece can get wet and you still stay dry and warm and that is pretty essential here in oregon.

Anyone know why Natural Gear doesnt offer alot of there jackets (this included) in the evergreen color?

Anyone who ownes this jacket could you maybe tell me your experience with this jacket?

Thanks

Nick~

First, here is a simple rule of thumb.

Soak your new camo in white distilled vinegar and water (1 cup of vinegar to 1 gallon of water) overnight. Next, was it with your hunters detergent.

Colors are now "Set into" the fabric and this will REDUCE fading. Not stop it, but REDUCE it. I use Natural Gear exclusively until recently, when I grew out of it (having a hard time finding camo in my size since my back surgery weight gain).

Finding a source for Natural Gear Material is a plus though, thanks for the info.
