In PA I needed a bobcat permit in order to trap or shoot a bobcat. I have read the rules and regs book here and, because I haven't passed my BAR exam yet, am having trouble translating it. I think I read that I do not have to have a permit if I want to shoot a bobcat. But on page 8 it says that "all bobcat... shall be properly tagged within 10 days...! So what is this tag, where do I get one- it looks like each one costs $2.20 and is this for shooting one without giving the little bugger away???
And it also says that I am not permitted to kill a bobcat by using an electronic call. On page 40 under "general rules" it says that it is unlawful to use "electronic or recorded calls" on anything except crows and coyotes. So if I am coyote hunting with my FoxPro and a bobcat roams by that I can not shoot it? Correct?? I did not read any special regulations about bobcats on state game lands but maybe I missed something. Is there anything else about bobcats that I might have missed? I do know that their season runs until Feb. 28th.
Thanks for your help- as you can see I am new to NC and am having trouble with understanding some of the rules and regulations.
