NcStar Spotting Scopes

Good or bad? I just bought a spotting scope from NcStar. I hate buying cheap stuff like that but I want something I can drop off a cliff and not worry about being out 2,300$ like my Swarovski. Good or bad purchase?

Ya might try getting "replacement cost" insurance...! Drop the scope off a cliff; lean over a deck rail and lose your $$ camera...etc...etc. Insurance pays you for it.

I had one and it broke in about a half hour. It kept coming loose from the tripod and I kept having to fix it. It also was like looking through fog on every magnification. It broke when I got tired of it and spiked on the floor at the range.

It did bounce real nice though.

Haha! Well apparently it comes with a 14 day return span so hopefully it will break within that period and it has the lifetime coverage...

Neither would I, mine was a christmas gift from my mom. I never told her, but that was the biggest waste of money she ever spent.

What's your price range? If you want something that will be serviceable yet inexpensive, look at the Redfield Rampage 20x60. It's not ideal, but it does have pretty good glass for what you spend and it's backed by Leupold's no BS lifetime warranty.

You get what you pay for...

Which Swaro do you have?

Why down grade to a NcStar if you have the "best of the best?" Why not be "extra" careful with the Swaro?

We've got the angled 20-60x60. We use it elk hunting in the mountains but I'm not too crazy about using it deer hunting and spotting just around the place.

Redfield Rampage is decent for the money. I can see .223 holes at 300 yards with mine. It is very clear even on 60 power. Has a tight eyebox but I have gotten used to that. It comes in a nice soft case with tripod, lens caps and nylon cover. Natchez has them for under $250. Check around though. I've seen a couple sales at near $200.

I picked up this Redfield at Cabela's for $229... It's a 20-60x, comes with a nice padded case that really protects it..The first day out, I knocked it off the shooting bench and onto the concrete pad...no damage...I can see .22 bullet holes at 300 yards and count pebbles at 500...The tripod is better than most..

Yup that there is a Redfield Rampage just like mine. Dang good spotter for the money.

Another vote for the redfield rampage. Same reviews as the guys above. I have only tried mine out to 200 yds with the .223, can see the wholes just fine. Havent tried dropping it in the padded case yet though :0).
