Hi All
Hoping someone can help me here,I want to get a helmet set up for mounting my PVS-14 over my left eye for scanning while shotgunning yotes in the tite stuff.I want the unit for target aquisition and identification only, once I have verified I have a coyote in the target area,I want to be able the flip the sight up and sight in one the target with my eyes, using open sites on the scattergun. All of my shots will be under 50 yards.
What parts do I need and can I get this stuff with out spending a ton of bucks?? Thanks!!!

Without spending a ton of bucks... you're hilarious. Its a pvs 14! On the serious side theres a helmet mount the military uses, should work as long as you have all the 14's accessory pieces. Worst case I don't imagine the skull crushers are too expensive. They're a mount that just sits on your head. Its a solid band with webbing.

Being ex-Army, I will point out that the mount that the military uses isn't really the best one out there, by any means (fairly typical with ALL military equipment). The best mount out there, for a helmet mount, is made by a company called Ops-Core. It's called the Ops-Core VAS Shroud, as seen here:

Now they will run you anywhere from about $75-$100, but in my opinion they are totally worth it. There is NO movement either in the up or the down position, and this is mainly due to the fact that it is attached to the helmet with three different screws, as opposed to the military's version which only uses one center screw. This is the same mount that most of the Special Operations guys are using, and also in the private sector as well. It's the best one out there. If you don't want to spend that much money on a mount, someone already pointed out the "skull crusher". Not the most comfortable thing I've ever worn, but it is a cheaper alternative and you don't have to wear a helmet. I actually have one that I'd be willing to part with if you're interested. Hope this helps a bit.
