My daughter wants to take some close up (20 - 30 yards) photos of some hawks for a school project..I have a prederation wireless caller that I bought to hunt coyote with but havent had time to use it yet..What sounds do you think would be best to use to call the hawks in? any other ideas tips??thanks, keith

Hi if you use a tape try JS crow and owl fight or Death cry of a crow with hawk crys. I have called in a bunch with those 2 tapes. I have had them fly in and land right above my head. Hope this helps. VM

Keep a eye out on hawks, I've had a couple of close calls with some big redtails that were a little too close for comfort. If you can find a mating pair during the right time of the year just get about 30 yds from the nest and you will get some good close ups.

Early to mid morning hunting I've had some looking for me while blowing my Dan Thompson PC 2, which is basically a rabbit distress. They are predators & if they're around, will respond to the same prey distress sounds other predators respond to. Location & time of day may be more of what to look for.

Northern goshawk has a territorial call that you can do on a Crit'R Call Standard pretty easy. It draws the territorial birds right in during late winter. Don't know about other times of the year or other hawk species.
