I am in the market for a new scope for mainly critter hunting and just plinking when season isn't in, but I have a dpms AR and have narrowed the search to a nikon m-223 with the nikoplex reticle or the leupold mark AR scope. Would appreciate any opinions on here about these scope and pros and cons maybe? I will mainly be hunting in the morning and evening with the occasional night hunt. Thank in advance everyone!

I just purchased the M223 with Nikoplex 3-12 x 42 I like the fact that it doesn't have turret caps that have to be removed to make adjustments. Also I think the Leupold is 1/2 MOA Adjustments where the Nikon is 1/4 MOA.

I am sure either scope is a good choice. I like the glass on the Nikon especially for the price.

Good luck on your choice

Very nice rifle dxt I have never looked through either scope because no one around here carries them unfortunately but I'm leaning more towards the nikon. Keep the pics coming guys and more input is welcomed!

Bushmaster O.R.C with a Leupold Mark AR 3x9 duplex ret. I have been very pleasantly surprised with this scope. Going to put another one on my 6.8SPCII from Keis when it gets here.

I'm a Leupold guy, but that particular Nikon is a decent scope as long as you go nikoplex and not BDC. My RRA Predator is sporting a Mark 2......

These are my only kills with it thus far:

I looked thru both, and chose the Mark AR, and now I have 2 of them. A 4-12x, and 6-18x, both mil dots. I liked the view thru them better, it just seemed more open, and less like looking thru a tube. Can't really explain it.

The bottom line for me--- I'd rather buy something made in Oregon than something made in the Phillipines. I'm making a conscious effort to support US made stuff as much as possible. I even bought a new Redfield 4-12x, very impressed for the money.

2much- did you shoot that deer in the butt? The big knob on the right side of that loopy can fix that. Just messin' with ya. Nice kills!!

Dx, Wow, Sweet rig you have set up. I'm a big fan of Nikon's M-223 scope series and M-223 AR mount. Heck I had 3 of them before I even started doing some part time work for Nikon. When something works for you it's hard to make a change. Thanks for the pics, keep em coming!

Barton,

Thanks I really like Nikon I had a Monarch on my muzzle loader and it was awesome at dawn and dusk.

I am going out tomorrow to sight it in and do some coyote hunting.

Thanks for the input guys it's appreciated! And great pics from everyone too! I got to look at a nikon with the bdc reticle tonight and kinda liked it but would also like to check the leupold out before I make the final decision. 2muchgun, why do you say stay away from the bdc? Just curious?

2muchgun,

I bought the snow camo tape from ebay it is actually like an ACE bandage and does not have glue it sticks to itself so you don't get any residue on your gun.

It can be removed and reused over again.

I haven't looked through either scope however I know that both are popular scopes especially the Leupold. Comparing my Nikon Monarch to my dads Leupold VX-3 I feel that the Monarch is easier to take a quick shot with... it feels like it has more eye relief but looking through the VX-3 seems that it has better glass. Both scopes are great scopes!
