One of my neighbors wants me to buy an old Savage 22 hornet from him but I can't find what model it is. The only markings on the barrel are proof tested and 22-HORNET. There is a barrel band about mid way up the barrel and the scope is mounted wih a side mount. The stock is nicely figured walnut, the butt plate is solid plastic and all the hardware on the stock is steel.
The gun is in decent shape with the usual nicks and dings from many years of hunting. After i find out what model I have I will need a idea of kind of $$ I should offer him for it.

Thanks
Lee

Cool little rifle. I'd definitely shoot it first, given the opportunity. Plus I LOVE free ammo, my favorite brand.....

22 hornet is a barrel burner??

Maybe if you stir the campfire with it????

thats exactly what I was thinking. I have owned several hornets and never had any problems. It is a great cartridge.

I just bought the same rifle in 222 Rem from Cabelas for $150. and see them in 30-30 and 222 Rem in the shops around here from $150-$250. Haven't seen a Hornet out here but I think they were alot more popular in the eastern part of the country where fox were the target.

I just bought a 340D in .222 rem and it is a really nice shooting and feeling gun. I was looking for one in .22 hornet and found them to run anywhere between $325 to $550. I gave $260 for my .222. I gave up getting one online with the transfer fees and prices they were going for. I took off the band in front and it seems to be steady on the stock. Looks better anyways. Good luck getting it.
