SMS, sounds like you already have a fairly sixable chunk of land lined up. But if you just pocketed a quarter mil, why are you worried about a few hundred bucks?? dont make sense to me. anyway, in graham texas, feb 9/10 there is a competition varmint hunt. cats and dogs only. 9 animal limit. max score is 6 cats and 3 dogs. if you win it will pay for your trip and then some. common purses go upward of 4 grand for 1st place. and I bet you would probly get to meet more than half of us on here as the turnout is usually more than a hundred teams. make a believer outa us bud and cmon down since you can be here in hours and all.

Cxp1, with all due respect i was just looking for some friends and new people to hunt with on private lands. I am not interested in guiding for a living. I am semi-retired and have alot of time on my hands. I am still a wholsaler in the auto business. I just wanted to cover expenses traveling to texas.. That not to much to ask for with my contacts. yes, i do have land locked up and will get more. Actually, the land is unproductive unless you have a high seat, proper lights and know how to call them in. I also hate pittsburgh winter weather and could spent 4 months in texas. Good shooting p.s That hunting contest sounds like fun. You texas boys would kick by butt but i will hold my own lol

It is understandable i believe for us to want to be kind of protective of the land here in Texas. We have a good thing going for as far as hunting goes and it would break my heart to see it to where a man has to pay a rancher to do him a favor. As far as Mr Smnyder wanting to cover his expenses thats pretty understandable as well you dont get to pocket a 1/4 mil. by throwing money around ,But paying that rancher might enflame a trend that goes to sever the ties that we Texas boys (some for a very long time ) have striven to put in place with these landowners.
On a lighter note how much does the competition cost? Where is Graham Tx. located?

ccw, thank you. you understand were i am comming from. by the way just ordered another foxpro caller scorpion X1A. Now i have the FX5 and scorpion as a backup up plus i have like 50 hand calls. i look like MR T with all those calls around my neck. lol

Personally, I can't understand anybody being willing to pay $300 a night just to hunt coyotes & cats. Maybe if I were locked into a downtown office in a major city 50 hours a week, or if I were just starting and wanting to shorten the learning curve. On the other hand, there are plenty of guys here that wouldn't dream of paying more than $300-400 for a cat or coyote mount, that they'll potentially be looking at for the rest of their lives. Guess it's just a matter of individual taste and "perceived worth".

CXP1 Thanks for the info! Im from the Waco area. But it doesnt look like I will be able to make it to that comp. I was on the way home from work last night and blew either a head or gasket.

I always get a laugh at the classy dudes that throw around how much money they make.

(the voice in my head)

why did I just write that?

Yuppiehunter just erase it...

dont hit the "continue" button,

dont do it,

dont,

It also amazes me about some of these "Gadget Masters". They get a bunch of calls, lights and E callers, come to Texas a few times and think they are pros or guides. SM makes me laugh.

Don't laugh look at the above pictures. All you need is the land to hunt, high seat truck and good rifle rest with a swivel chair, good lights, good calling talent and good equiptment. You must know how to read a Gps to get you around at night. You must know were to hunt and what animals are there. I have it covered. Been there done that and learned from one of the best.

So... you don't really need much huh???

I started night hunting with a car battery in a milk crate,a white light, a mouth call and a .22. I killed quite a few.
I built the first high swiveling seat over 25 years ago, and am still perfecting it. Ya'll should see some of the stuff they come up with. We never heard of a GPS, and being born here, never worried about getting lost. We've killed 27 coyotes per night, and as many as 9 cats 4 coyotes, and 8 fox all in one night. I also see nights when I have to hunt 'til almost daylight to do any good, but, that's why they call it hunting. It really is easy, I think everyone should spend thousand to try it. Randy

Heck the canidates for president just spent 90 million to make $400.000 per year if elected. Figure that? All backed by big business and big money. Much of these donations are from Texas oil business.( Sometimes money don't mean much.) I rather have fun with people. I also understand that Midland is booming. At $90.00 a barrel you guys are pumping your butts off. Lots and Lots of jobs. To many to fill in the oil business at this time. I forgot to mention, i also have connections in the texas oil business. I killed a lot of predators in those oil fields. Randy, i agree predator hunting is NOT easy unless you know how to do it and were to go. Good equiptment is a must. By the way you should look at the Lone Star Rifle Rest. The arm of this system makes for a better high seat rifle rest. I can send you one if you wish. Good hunting Great Video you made.

Requesting payment from a "hunting friend" to cover expenses & services for one's own self just doesn't sound real friendly to me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif But maybe I'm silly that way...

Any spots still left? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Funny, I spent 30 minutes writting on this exact subject tonight. Posted it and got a few PM's about it...laughing...and now it is gone!
I didn't know PredatorMasters.com was getting so commercial.

yeah i didn't think they would delete it but it may have been viewed as a personal attack. It was a very valid post pertaining to this post and it was hilarious.

It wasn't a personal attack. I thought I may have to clarify it a few times to various moderators and members, but I certainly didn't think the 1st amendment would be chunked out the window.
It was a post based on factual statements from the subject and threads all started by said subject.
Shame on me!

We gave said subject enough rope...I was just trying to tie off the other end.

I guess their job as moderator means difusing situations that might become hostile. I wish I would have gotten off work early enough to see your post though. HeHe

personal attacks and negative is not me. I just offerred Randy a state of the art rifle rest for FREE. The unit cost $575.00. That's not a personal attack. thanks cwbyrshr, you did end this thread. ON to the next subject. good hunting.
