The best way we have found to kill a skunk without getting sprayed is shoot it from the side. Take out both lungs and they can't spray.. I don't know if this is always true but it has worked on the couple we've had in our traps..Good luck and if you do get sprayed use Hunter's Specialties Scent Away soap.. Wash all you clothes in HS scent Away laundry soap.. I got sprayed by 2 skunks in one day while pheasant hunting a couple years ago and this worked great. Washed my hunting stuff twice and took one really good shower and the smell was gone..
