I used to build the live traps out of plywood, all sides and the door.  I would use a tuna can with small nail holes punched in the top for the bait.  The skunks would walk in and the door would flop and the darn thing would be in an enclosed box.  They would never spray unless you would get to shaking the box too much when you were moving it.  Remove from around the house and open door. Skunk takes a few steps out of box and 12ga. game over.  This works very well for getting skunks out of your yard and not having to deal with the smell in the yard or house.  Good luck!
