Need some lion season dates and info

Normally I would just get on the respective state dnr sites and get this info but I'm battling a computer virus so it's making it a little tricky.

I'm interested in lion hunting this year, but I need to find out when the seasons for each state that has a lion season are. And I need to know if I need to apply for a tag in advance or if they're available over the counter.

Can you guys help me out?

Thanks

I am too far away for any info I know to be of any use. If you will tell me what state you are looking at hunting, I will look it up for you.

DITTO, Where do you want to hunt, and how????
Your dogs, no dogs, or hunt with a local?
There are some good lion hunters here that can help you out.

Sorry for the lack of info. I'd rather not hunt with dogs. I've always wanted to call one in. As far as where I want to hunt, it really doesn't matter to me. I've got some time off this winter and am looking to do some hunting/traveling. The thing is, I don't even know all of the states that have lion seasons. Montana, Wyoming and Arizona I believe do, but correct me if I'm wrong. The bigger the cat the better of course. I'd love to meet up with someone from here who knows what they're doing and could get me to within rifle range of a cat. I can't afford a guided hunt but could make it worth someone's while to take me out. Unless they just want to take me out for free because they love hunting and sharing knowledge so much.

Throw a post into the hunt swap forum, you never know.

I can help you out with techniques, sounds, and other stuff if you want to self-guide, but getting local knowledge is absolutely invaluable. Could save DAYS of roaming around scouting.

Sounds like you want high desert, but WA and OR in the PNW are also open to calling only. And Rocky MT states ID, MT, UT, NM, and I think NV are open to calling but also have dogs to compete with. (Can be good and bad. Good scouting info from friendly hound guys, but impossible to call in areas where they're working.) CO as well, but no e-calls last I heard. TX is wide open, still classified as "non-game" but populations are spotty.

I live in WA. Lots of areas in WA are permit only after new years, but my area is general opener until mid March. It's thick and steep on the West side. Opens up on the east, desert and rocky type mountains, but the regs are kind of a tangled web for theeast side GMU's after new years.

Very low percentage to call in a big Tom. Probably less than 1 in 10 call-ins are the dominant Tom. That's call-ins, not stands!

Good Luck! Hunt of a lifetime in my opinion!

In Wyoming the season is Sept. 1 till March 31, or until the mortality is reached in the specific area. I have no expirence in hunting lions so that is about all I can do for you.
