Need some loads for .243 55gr blitzkings

My best load for the 55 gr BlitzKing in my .243 is 46.2 grains of H414. When I tested this load it was 60 degrees and there was a 20-25mph wind. I shot 5 - 3 shot groups @ 100yds. My groups were 7/8", 5/8", 1-1/8", 9/16" and 3/16" = Avg 11/16". I am pretty sure the 1-1/8" group was my fault and not the load. Needless to say with the wind conditions I shot in, that load development was finalized.
 
I have not shot it over my chrony yet, but I have some rounds loaded just for it. I'll try to get to the range Sunday. You are correct with what the book says @ 3400. I don't develope my loads over a chrony. I always use the book for the target velocity I want, then load for accuracy near that velocity. I only use my chrony to see what the actual final result is. I usally load my large game loads with heavy for caliber bullets at higher end velocities for harder hits and load my Predator rounds with lighter for caliber bullets at lower velocities for less fur damage. If I ever went Praire Dog hunting shooting I would load the 55's hotter than 3400 if the accuracy allowed. I once, actually twice, shot Coyotes with a 100 gr Pro Hunter that was loaded higher up the chain for Deer hunting but is one of my most accurate loads. Both times the Yotes were shot at ranges alot closer than anticipated and the pelt damage was severe. I stopped doing that. Now that you mentioned it, I have a bunch of good loads that need to be shot over my chrony. I will report back if I get out this Sunday.

that is the load that I use also along with Sierra 60g HP which is a whale of a good coyote bullet, on load development, I would start off at 47.0g and work up, I use fEd 210 primers. I found over the years with several rifles that best accuracy was very close to a max safe working load for that rifle. You always have to keep in mind that if you work up a load at 40*, then try to hunt in 95* there may be a very slight pressure increase(usually .5g difference).

20+ years ago, I talked with the Sierra Ballistician when they were in Sante Fe Springs, Ca concerning how accurate the 60g Sierra was in my benchrest rifle chambered in 6PPC. It was hard to tell the difference in accuracy between my custom made bullets, Berger, Watson, GTB bullets and the Sierra 60g HP. The Ballistician told me that the 60g Sierra HP in 6mm was the most accurate bullet they made. I shot p. dogs, coyotes, and jackrabbits with the 60g Sierra, with spectacular expansion.

I found about a .5g difference in loads between a 55g and a 60g when using 760.

I made it to the range today, sunny and 75 with 8mph SW wind. Here are the results over the chrony set out 15ft. Shot 10 rounds of Sierra 55gr BlitzKings in my Tikka .243 with 46.2gr of H414 = LO-3456 HI-3486 AV-3472. During development I shot a 3/16" 3-shot group with a 3-shot/5 target average of 11/16" and that was a the day there was a 20-25mph wind. I also shot 10 rounds today at the gongs at 300yds. I held my Burris Ballistic plex rectical right on 300 mark and just hammered them.

Shot some other loads over the chrony as well. Hornady 65gr V-Max with 46.4gr of H414, same rifle. I only had 4 rounds so not a real good test sample, but this was a bit odd. Lo-3456, HI-3486, AV-3472. Im not kidding, no BS, same as the 55 Seirras. This is a very good load in my rifle. I have shot a 3-shot 1/4" group with this load before.

Shot 10 rounds of 80gr Berger FB Varmint with 41.2gr H414 = LO-3011, HI-3051, AV-3029. This load I have also shot a 1/4" group with.

Shot 5 rounds of 100gr Sierra Pro Hunters FB with 39.6gr of H414 = LO-2838, HI-2875, AV-2860. This is one of my favorite loads, as I mentioned above, not pelt friendly. I have shot my best average with this load at 5/8".

Now this was a little interesting. Using my sons Tikka .243 with the same 100gr Pro Hunter load. Shot 5 rounds = Lo-2923, HI-2953, AV-2938. That's a 78fps faster average than my rifle. Of course he says "Yah! mines faster". Probably because his rifle only has like 400 rounds down it and mine has like 4000. What I didn't tell him, is that my rifle is more accurate. I think the powder in his loads and mine were from different lot# jugs.

I also shot 4 different 55 grainers/.224 in my new 18" SPR AR-15 over the chrony today. Great day at the range with my boy.

I ended up settling on 45.5 gr of H414 with my 55gr SBK's. I went out to a buddies and prior to goin I thought I should at least make three rounds each of two loads. The only data I had on the SBK's didn't have H414. What I went off of was a Nosler 55gr data but started on the extreme low end (45.0 gr). I made three loaded at 45.0 and three at 45.5. Took them to the range and had great results! How about that. It usually takes me quite a while to find that 1/2" three shot group load. I found it in the second group only needing those two loads. Of course I reloaded about 100 of them and took them to a dog town in north central Nebraska to really test them. Did great. Wasn't a big town but went 5 for 5 with my T/C Venture with ranges from 125-250 yds. I'll try to stretch it out some other time.

I haven't chronoed it yet but I'd say about 3350 fps. Not a sizzler, but I think it will be pelt friendly this year for coyotes.
