I now have a cetme in my possession. It is a .308 cal. I am trying to find out what accuracy is with these rifles. I put a 4.5-14x40 nikon scope on it. It shoots a scattered pattern at 100 yards. Does anyone have experience with cemtes? What was the average size of your groupings? Any thoughts or opinions on how to upgrade parts. Thank you for your time.

i got 2" with hand loads, but they ruin your brass,i tried a lot of different military loads with some a lot better than others, but they are fun to shoot,.

I was the Marine Corps Attache to Spain during the 90's.

The Spanish Military hates them for just that reason as well as being unreliable and prone to malfunctions.

Other than that........

Have a friend that owned one and it turned out to be a very poor and inaccurate version of a HK 91/G3. He took a loss dumping that thing.

Actually the Cetme came first and the HK91/G3 was a modification-upgrade of the spanish rifle.
The current imports will usually go bang when they are supposed to but they are not target rifles.
2-3inch groups are the norm. I have several of them and they are just fun for turning money into noise. Definately not accurate enough for varmints or reliable enough for home defense.

What kind of load. Right now 2 -3 inches seams pretty good. Mostly what I am looking for is bullet weight. Should I go up from 150 gr. I was looking at 180 gr. nosler BT with H380. That looked alright, but any info would help.

I believe that all those .308 military rifles were designed to shoot 148 gr. FMJ. Do you know what the twist rate of the barrel is?

What's it doing to your brass that ruins it?

they have a fluted camber and a delayed roller bolt, it allows pressure to drop before the bolt cycles, brass swells and grabs flutes thus making your tour brass look like a fluted 700 bolt, and when bolt opens it pretty much rips it out of chamber, could possibly be reused, but imo Naw, just use milsup
