NEF pump shotgun...

Hey guys, not sure if this has been posted already. I read a short article that stated that NEF is making pump shotguns now. They are supposed to be good guns and they are under $200!

Just though I would pass this on so you can keep your eyes peeled in case you are in the market.

I haven't seen anything on their site about pump shotguns. Is this something that is going to be coming out in the near future?

I just checked and found the article. They did not state a date of being available. Here is what the article said:

"for the first time, NEF is offering a 12-gauge pump shotgun and a self-loading .22 and while repeat actions may be something new, these all around hunting guns still deliver a lot of bang for the buck. The NEF Pardner Pump we shot was slick and solid with steel receiver, double action safety bars, and cross bolt safety."
Specs:

- 28 inch barrel, changeable chokes, vent rib
- 3 inch chamber
- five shot mag
- beaded front sight
- walnut stock with vent pad
- LOP, 14.25"
- Drop at comb, 1.5"
- Drop at heel, 2.5"
- OAL, 48.5"
- 7.5 pounds

Sportster .22

- Semi auto
- 19" barrel
- 10 shot clip
- adjustable rear sights, grooved for scope
- Monte Carlo stock
- LOP= 14.25"
- OAL= 38.5"
- 5.5 pounds
Price= Right around $100.

Looks like the NEF .22 might be a Marlin since they reference the Marlin website.

NEF isn't actually making the pump. It's made in China, and brought over under their name. There was an article in one of the multitude of gun and hunting mags I get every month, but I don't remember which one. Could have been in Guns & Ammo, but I'm not sure.

Moonshine is CORRECT! These are NORINCO's made in China. Is it Guns and Ammo that has a story on them and ID their origin. However, they get very high marks.

How can they be NORINCO's when importing NORINCO's is currently illegal?
As I recall there is a ban on NORINCO's because of some kind of missile parts sale or something. But I know that NORINCO's are banned from importation until sometime next year.

Jim: I can only refer you to Guns and Ammo, the current issuse. They are made in China by NORINCO, now I do not know if it is all NORINCO products or just specific ones that are banned. Obviously not all.

All right, I'd like to know the full story on this, so I'm going to start digging and posting info as I get it.

I'm gonna look around in a minute and see if this has expired or when it will expire.

USA Today says that Norinco was import banned due to selling missile parts to Iranians. Ban expires 5/05.

So, I seriously doubt that NEF is importing anything made by Norinco. Or, they imported them before 5/22/03.

Edit again:
I just wanted to add a comment on this. In the time that I've been aware of NEF, they've always trumpeted they're "Proudly made in the USA" statement. (or something like that) If they are importing el cheapo commie shotguns, they'll have to get rid of that, now won't they. And frankly, I'll be more than a bit disappointed in them if they start importing stuff from Norinco after the ban expires. From what I've read, Norinco is pretty much owned by the Chinese government.
