New .224 Valkerie

So I had an 80% lower laying around and all this .224 valkerie talk had me itching for a new rifle, so I built this for some long range coyote/groundhog slaying.

Unknown 80% lower
KNS anti rotation anti walk pins
PSA A2 rifle lower parts kit
Magpul MOE grip
Timney Calvin elite 1.5 pound single stage trigger
PSA complete 20" upper with BCG and Chanrging handle
Daniel Defense muzzle brake
American defense 20moa QD mount
Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 with NP-R1 reticle
American defense QD bipod mount
Harris S-BRM 6-9 inch bipod

I have a Seekins precision match grade barrel on backorder as a fall back plan, just in case this PSA barrel is a POS.

Will be hitting the range Monday for a full test with federal Gold Medal 90 Grain Sierra Matchking ammunition and American eagle 75 Grain FMJ ammunition.

The 90g berger is awesome with R#17. Federal brass is very, very soft, I am using Starline and am very happy with it.

The 90g Berger is in a class by its self in terms of accuracy in this rifle. The throat is long so shorter bullets do not seem to shoot well.

90g Berger is .250-.3 MOA
88g Hornady is .5 Moa

From the June American Rifleman, page 64.

Western Powders Reloading & Load Data Guide.
"Loaded in the higher-pressure 5,56x45 mm NATO cartridge, the same projectile reportedly hit 2701 f.p.s. with a pressure of 60,052 p.s.i. virtually identical to the .224, so performance will be similar"
Projectile was a 90-gr HPBT MatchKing.

So don't run off and throw your 223 bolt guns away.
Just go buy the Western Powders Reloading & Load Data Guide.
If it makes you feel better take a felt tip and write Valkyrie on your barrel.

For AR guys; If you own a 6,8mm SPECII just load 90gr HPBT.

What length barrel and how long will .223 brass last at those pressures? I can run those speeds from an 18 inch barrel at pressures safe in an AR and have decent brass life in the Valkrie.
Comparing 6.8 90gr??? whats the BC on that bullet?

Just saw Valkerie ammo at Wally World last night for 10$ a box; No 22-250 on the shelf at all. Found that kinda interesting.

Well, you must have bought one. It was a writers campaign. People get paid to write up this stuff. Like it is the one to save the world. I know I wrote the crap for years. I have to laugh. Go to an F-class shoot and see if you find one or even Camp Perry. I knew a fellow told me "he could sell a poop sandwich". I read behind the lines you spent your money on "A poop sandwich". I have been reading, loading and shooting for 57 years. I still shoot the 220 swift because there is nothing better. I just turned 71 in June.

Stop reading Magazines and buy the two volume set of "Small Arms Design and Ballistics" by Townsend Whelen. "The Red Book" is a good read. It has all been done before. They change the names to get your money.

Even though it may be over hyped, in what ways is it better than a 224 valk? Can it fit in an ar15? Shoot 90+great projectiles at at least 2,700 fps? What are the balistics like past 1,000 yds? I the appeal of the 224 is that you can take an ar15 to 1,300yds? I'd like to learn more about how Western powders puches a 90 great projectile safely that fast in .233.
