New Alpha dogg

Well, I just received my Alpha Dogg today. This thing is little! Its way smaller than the picture displays. I got it out and played with it, called in my 3 dogs and the neighbors cat. I keep reading about how big they are and that they would be too big to carry to the woods. That is absolutely false. These things are no bigger in sq. in. than the foxpros'. The forums that keep talking about the size to big, I'm guessing have never truly seen one. The remote is Friendly to use. It would be easy to switch this over to a rechargeable 12v. The battery pack has quick snap 9V style plug. It could be wired over to a small 12v rechargeable easy enough.

I Hope to use it doggin this weekend.

Let us know if you have any remote issues like looseing connection to the speaker & distances you set it at.

Im loving my alpha dogg so far. Been using it for 6 weeks and no issues. Remote has worked perfectly fine for me up to 100 yards. Haven't tried it any further. Same set of batteries too.

I have the alpha and the remote worked fine at 75 yards. Like all calls make sure the remote has a clear line of sight to the caller.

I use mine out to 100 often. The farthest I had it was 137 and I was at the limit of its range. Had no problem withit out that far, just had to make sure the antena simbol was up.

I have had mine since Dec and have mixed emotions. Works great most of the time, however battery life hasn't been very good and range seems to vary. Have used the caller out to 50yds with grass in the way and it worked fine, but the next time had the caller 15yds up and behind me and it wouldn't work at all. I wish they would put a battery life indicator on the remote or the caller. For the most part I am happy with it, just needs some more tuning from the folks at Primos.

Nathan it does have a battery charge indicator in the remote under settings, but I thinks its just the remote life not the base.
Primos wants me to send mine back even with the new remote they sent its the worse staying connect unit I have owned.

I've had minimal problems with connection issues till yesterday evening and it would work standing up but when I would sit down I would lose signal especially after I would punch play. I messed with it this morning and changed out the remote batteries (they read 1.45v) and it didn't help. It continued to loose signal when I punched play. jI then changed out the batteries in the base, they read 1.35v and everything went back to normal. This leads me to believe that it's a battery issue in the base and when its starts to power the speaker while calling, the voltage probably drops more and connection is lost. I don't really know much about elctronics or if the connection even relies on certain voltage but it may be a possibility. I had used the caller quite a bit on this set of batteries and I knew it was about time to change. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I forgot to add the battery indicator said I had 97% before I changed them out. I assume that indicates battery strength in the remote not the base.

What brand batteries are you feeding your caller?

I had 2 of those, the 1st worked good for 2 months then the speaker started to buzz like heck.
The second one I had remote issues with...sent it back also.
I went back to hand calling only & use a pals Turbo Dogg when I have a need to.

I have only used Duracell batteries in mine. I can get about 7 stands out of mine before it starts to distort. It doesn't sound like very much, but I sit for longer periods of time calling mainly bobcats. I always take mouth calls for backup if the batteries get low or won't work.

I've used only Energizer batteries, I really haven't counted the stands. Haven't had any distortion problems, has a little static that you can hear on lowest volume but it doesn't seem to be noticeable when its waling. Just to clarify, mine is a turbo dogg but I would figure the remote systems would be the same, maybe not battery life since the Alpha dogg may be driving more speakers.

I had trouble with energizers of recent. They usually work good. But since I switched to Duracell, the caller has been working good. Thats my FP. I am waiting for the alpha dogg to arrive along with eneloop batteries. I was going thru like 12 aa energizer batteries a week. Duracell are doing quite better but still going to rechargables here.
