New Howa trigger

Got this off their web site

Howa is equipping each barreled action with the new Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger (HACT) system that eliminates trigger creep and lightens trigger pull. The HACT will fit all Howa M-1500 rifles that were previously equipped with their three position safety.

The HACT trigger assembly is a completely redesigned trigger and sear unit that actually creates a two-stage trigger. This allows the shooter to take up trigger creep before squeezing through to touch off the round. The HACT trigger system allows for a lighter let-off - factory set at 3 lbs - eliminating trigger jerk, or pulling off the shot because the trigger pull is too heavy.

The other improvement that the HACT offers is in safety. Most triggers use an indirect sear lock, meaning, the safety locks the trigger and the trigger locks the sear. With lightened triggers that have been worked on after the sale, this can be dangerous because a hard bump can set off the sear, even if the safety is engaged. With the new HACT trigger, we use a direct sear lock, where a cross pin locks the sear, preventing any accidental discharges.

The HACT trigger from Howa will improve your accuracy with a crisper, cleaner and lighter trigger pull. This will give you better groups and . . . cleaner harvests! "

Anyone hear of this new trigger before, and if so what's your thoughts

I don't know, I will call them Monday.

The Timney is adjustable.

The new trigger sounds pretty nice. That's one thing I didn't care about my Howa 1500. The stock trigger was horrible, IMO. I ended up replacing it with a Timney.

Mark, please keep us updated. A new Howa sounds good, if I could get one with a good trigger and a sporter barrel. My Heavy Barrel Howa is not much fun for hiking in the woods. Id hate to have to buy another Timney to make it feel good.

I will ask those questions for sure. In the meantime if you go to the legacy sports web site and scroll through the Howa ranchland rifles, there is a picture of the new trigger, it almost appears to be adjustable. I will let you know when I find it out. I have a new Howa ranch land compact in green coming in 243 next week.

Any updates? I like to know if it is adjustable and if it will direct fit the old howas and vanguards.

I was able to play with one in a store a few days ago. I liked it personally. It's kind of like some handgun triggers. It's very light (little resistance) when you first press it for maybe 1/4 to 3/8th an inch and then you fill a little resistance, then just press a little harder and it goes. I liked it.

I recently was checking out the Weatherby Vanguard S2 and this trigger you describe sounds very much like the one on the new Vanguard which is 2 stage with a bit of take up and then a very light break. I'm pretty sure it was right around 3 lbs. also. I thought it was a very nice trigger although I'm not used to a 2 stage on a hunting gun. I know Howa makes the Weatherby, so perhaps it's the same.

The gun I got last month did not have an adjustable trigger. Not sure why. Although she shoots great like al my other Howas. The. Trigger is fine for me the way it is.

The old Howa triggers are easily adjustable I have both of mine set around 2.5 pounds with very little creep. All you need is a small cresent wrench and a flat head

JLUTCHER51, could you walk us through the process? It has been a while since I have broken mine apart, but seem to remeber 2 screws, I am assuming you screw them in and out? But which way, and which does what would be nice to here?

>Check Weapon is Unloaded< undo the 2 locking nuts on trigger. with safety on fire, turn rear adjustment screw clockwise untill striker falls, back screw out about 1/4 turn. re cock the rifle check if safety catch works if it doesn't you need to back the screw out again a little at a time until the safety does work, then tighten the lock nut,.be carefull to hold the screw while tightening. back the front screw out ( counter clockwise) nearly all the way, screw back in until you feel spring tension, check that the bolt cocks and trigger works, with the safety on fire, try slamming the bolt closed 10 times, if the striker falls you need to increase spring pressure untill you can slam the rifle closed without the striker falling. re tighten lock nut, it is possible to re machine the trigger to allow the safety to work when the sear engagement is at a safe minimum, you can get the Howa trigger down to about 500g pull weight safely by doing this, in standard form you can get it down to about 800g -1100g with the safety still functionable.,.

Does anyone know where I can buy the 2 stage Howa HACT trigger retrofit kit? The reviews on this trigger said retrofit kit was coming out in mid 2012. I can't seem to find one online. Any help would be much appreciated.
I purchased the Howa youth rifle in .243 for my son and can't get over how much I like the 2 stage trigger! I know exactly when the gun is going to fire and feel like it increases accuracy. Now I just want to put on on my weatherby vanguard.

Do all of you fellow Howa owners know that they make a detachable magazine kit for them right? I just found one online about a month ago,I have not bought one yet. I think they were about $80.

Thanks for the good lead. I am looking at legacy and downloaded their catalog. But I still haven't found just the 2-stage Howa HACT trigger for sale. All I want is the trigger. Please advise...
