Hello, I am new to coyote hunting but I now have lots of equipment, team spirit along with a N.J. special coyote permit. I plan on hunting N.J. and Bradford County Pa. soon. I was wondering if there are any Jersey hunters on this board and if they are having any luck in the garden state.

I live in Warren cty and have tried for a couple of years w/o any luck. Hoping the night hunt will change that. Do you use EC or hand calls?

Hello, I have both electric (Stewart) and a couple mouth calls (Dan Thompson). I plan on going out this week in Middlesex County and then trying a spot in Ocean County. There are some coyotes in these areas but it is slim pickings. I suspect that there are lots more red fox around than coyotes. But I need the practice calling so I'll give it a try.

Could you guys give me some info on the NJ coyote season? A freind called me and said he heard NJ is having a 2 week season and wants me to call for him. He archery hunts NJ so he has a license but I dont. Can he hunt with his reg. nonres.license? Also would I need to get a license just to do the calling?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, The season for Fox and Coyote both firearm and bow started on Nov.10 and runs to Feb 18. This is 1/2 hour before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset. Shot size 10 or 12 gauge fine no smaller than #4 or larger than #2. There will also be night hunting with a special shotgun permit (to late to apply for it)Feb 1 to Feb 18. (muzzleloader and bow day time only)....His regular 2002 license should be just fine for day time hours and I don't think you need anything to just call (without a gun).

Permits will be available over the counter at the Pequest Hatchery and others. I just called the state to find out when they are sending them out and it should be this week.
