New life into an old dog

I have a 9 year old german shorthair who's been an AWESOME pheasant dog for me (also an awesoem friend). This year she really started to stiffen up after a few hours in the field especially when the weather turned cold. We got her an electric heat pad to go in her insulated dog house. Now she's like a pup again! She might be a little tired toward the end of the day but she doesnt seem to have the stiff joints anymore whatsoever. Just a little suggestion for all you having the same trouble cuz it hurts more to see ur dog in pain than not being able to hunt with her.

Now besides being your hunting pal, dogs are an investment of your time and money. So why not get the most for your bucks and keep them around longer! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif It warms my heart to see owners take extra special care of their animals.

I have always been acused of being to soft on my dogs. Well, I never thought so and the dogs sure didn't complain during that time. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Doing things like giving hot meals during severe weather, heat in the dog house, sanitizing things well, extra food rations etc. Old dogs need more care, getting old doesn't mean you can't take em to the field anymore.

If it did, why this Old Dog would have hung up his guns long ago. So take that extra care of both your young dogs and the aging ones too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
