New Model 6x42 Super Sniper

I did some testing on the SS series of scopes a couple of years ago and all in all was pleasantly suprised at the glass quality and the repeatability of them considering their cost vs other high end companies.
Don't get me wrong, they were not on par with the Leupolds and the others that I had tested them with but for the money difference I was very impressed.

I have heard some good things in the past about the Super Sniper Scopes. And most have been good. The problem is that it is just impossible for me to get excited about a Tasco scope. I have had a couple, and fooled with a bunch of Tasco scopes in the past-so I guess I just have a bad taste in my mouth. If the scopes were more reasonably priced then I might warm up a bit more to them. but I just can not force myself to buy an over priced Tasco?? Tom.

I'm new here so I hope i don't step on your toes but the current model SS's are not Tasco in any way. The original Tasco SS's where built to compete for a government contract and when Tasco stopped SWFA bought the name and have completely redone them. They are not comparable to Tasco.

No toe stepping here. We always disagree with each other. I consider it a discussion, never a hard feeling from me.

Here is my outlook on your response. Tasco was not a manufacturer. Tasco was a "trade name", they never made a scope. They had the scopes made for them. I think if you dig a little deeper you will find that the actual scope is still made by the same exact place that it was made before.

Now in fairness to your remarks, the mfr. who is making the scope will make a scope to specs. And no doubt the specs. on the current SS scopes are better than when Tasco made them. I will agree with you on that. And as I said in my original response, the SS is probably a better scope than when Tasco marketed them. I think more than anything else I was just trying to convey a little bit about the history of the scope. And with a little flair about my dis-taste for Tasco. These SS scopes WILL be forever linked with it's heritage from Tasco. So if a person buys one they need to know that. Because whether we like it or not the history with Tasco will greatly effect the resale value of the product. I have seen it first hand. Tom.

If you look through classifieds from forum to forum, the SS hold their value quite well, this isn't your typical Tasco World class scope that doesn't hold resale value...

IMO, it's one of the best bangs for the buck for entry level tactical scope.

@ 21oz, I'll pass on this for a coyote scope.
